Do women wear burqas because men can't control their urges?

burqa

Some one told me that men are too weak to be trusted with their sexual urges and women must cover up so that they don't drive men into a sexual frenzy. Is this true?

It's not really about control of urges. It's about controlling women.

Islamic tradition requires "modest" attire. The interpretation of what is "modest" varies. Some would say it means not wearing a bikini, and others would say that no part of a girl/women should be seen by any but her family members. It is from this extreme interpretation you get the burqa or chadri.

But this kind of interpretation is only common in cultures where women are fully repressed and relegated to the level of animals--sometimes lower. It is these cultures that forbid women from doing anything but bearing children to their sanctioned husband. These are the cultures which allow "female circumcision" and blame the woman for her rape--punishing her to death or ostracism.

The type of culture that oppresses women to such a degree is at fault, not Islam or the Quran. And those men who can't control their urges to abuse and control women inevitably rape and harm--regardless of the woman's attire.

Are they allowed to get a bikini wax? How about a Brazilian Wax? Isn't a chastity belt more effective?

And why the hell can't we castrate those men, and bury them alive!?

Sorry. I have 2 daughters and I use inappropriate humor to control my urge to kill those bastards.

Actually, Muslims are supposed to shave pubic and underarm hair.

"Muslim law (Sharia) puts hair in three categories: that which it is recommended to remove (pubic and armpit hair), that which it is recommended to keep (the beard), and that which is the object of limited recommendation (foot, hand, back, and chest hair). Removal of armpit and pubic hair is a hygienic practice which was taught by Muhammad and which was enumerated as having been part of practices conforming to man's premortal (Fitrah) nature. On the other hand, shaving or removing part of the eyebrows is forbidden as the "modification of the creation of Allah and obedience to Satan in his work to fool men and bring them to modify the creation of Allah." Stray hairs between the eyebrows may be removed, but not the hairs of the eyebrows. A male may trim or cut hair on his head—however shaving of the head is forbidden in some branches of the religion. A male may trim hair on the chest and back but may not remove it, as this is considered to be imitating women. In contrast, women are permitted to remove hair from these areas. In the 9th century, the use of chemical depilatories for women was introduced by Ziryab in Al-Andalus."

I was watching Dr. Phil, and he had a topic on why men cheat, and also, women who have affairs with married men and how they are actually saving the marriage by having the affair with the married man. The conclusion, of the two who came on the show who wrote books on how women can prevent our men from cheating. Is first we need to look our best at all times..etc. I am so sick of everyone putting the blame on the victim. Why can't we take responsibility for our own actions. Like the Bible says, "Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied." (Proverbs 27:20)

This can't be true. I've seen those women and I think I can control myself.

Excellent point, I agree some of those black billowing burqad Mamas are scary looking. I'm positive the burqa does help with the control of the contraception in some strange prehistoric way. But are these men like basic cave men or something that don't have an ounce of control in the bodies? It sounds to me like a lame excuse and personally, I think the burqas are meant to repress the women and control them. If it was for religious reasons, they'd have an ounce of compassion at least make them a different color. Black on a 125 degree day seems more than cruel.
