Do you believe in ghosts?

Yes

Absolutely! I've seen a ghost, and my home was built on top of an Indian burial ground, and some spooky stuff has happened....

Anything relating to Poltergeist? hahahaha. .......................................................

Side: yes

Thank God, no. Just doors opening, locks unlocking, weird noises... maybe they're explainable, but as far as I know, there are spirits abound!

I definitely saw an other-worldly creature in a B&B;in upstate New York. He walked out of a room with no other outlet to any other rooms but the one I was in, stood there, and disappeared. Freaky. I was fourteen, I think? Maybe I was hallucinating....

But the real clincher for me is Sweet Hollow Road. I live about twenty minutes away, and my friends and I have explored Sweet Hollow, which is considered one of the most haunted places in the state. There's an overpass that passes over the road (duh), which a school bus full of children rolled off of, and they all died. The spot where the overpass goes over is at the bottom of the hill, and if you put your car in neutral at that spot, it gets pushed up the hill. Also, if you cover your car in baby powder and drive down Sweet Hollow at night, then go to a lit area, there are tiny little children's handprints all over the car. Swear to God.

Maybe that's why I'm afraid of the dark.

This is hard especially for those who have never experienced a ghost. I believe in ghost because of the experience I had in an old school I worked at. I was working late at night getting the scenery ready for a production when I heard a little girl's giggling sound. I went to the hall and I saw a little girl walk into another hall. I am not the only one who has experienced this little girl, apparently many teachers and other students have seen her too. So when you ask me this question my answer is yes.

Side: yes

I've not had the experience of seeing or feeling a ghost nearby but I do believe in them. I've read too many novels and fact based books not to! That little girl in the school gave me the willies...brrrrrr.

Another argument could be the Marfa Lights. Scientist have no explanation till this day what causes these light to appear during the night. It is a great place that people visit from all over the country. Also, Marathon has what I believe the Gage hotel. It is an old hotel and in some rooms, you can hear someone playing a trumpet or something like that. I still find all this stuff interesting though.

Oh yes they do. The lights are caused by vehicles on U.S. Highway 67.

Sometimes people have typos, but if you are going to dispute their spelling, you might want to post correct spelling yourself. It's all in good fun so let's have fun with these topics and let's stop correcting other people's flaws. Have a great day!

I see them, hear them... How can I not ? they are here, angels are real too..... some spirits are not so nice and I help clean them out ...

Side: yes

But ghosts are shy and don't want to be seen by humans. Ghosts like to be secluded.

There is no empirical, documented evidence of ghosts or spirits or any sort of continuing existence beyond death. While a personal experience in which someone thinks they have seen a ghost may be very emotionally powerful and convincing, one must keep in mind that they are basing their interpretation of the experience on emotion and not logic. So much time has passed it would nearly impossible for there to be absolutely no legitimate proof for the existence of ghosts. The human mind has a tendency to attribute unknown phenomena to the realm of the supernatural, but until actual data emerges affirming such superstitions, I do not believe in ghosts.

Growing up, my house was average sized, but it sat on over an acre of land, so we had a really big front and back yard. Along the back border of our property was this twenty foot thick wall of wild overgrowth that the previous owners had never cut down. It was a dense mass of tangled trees and bushes all grown into each other, with a thick carpet of leaves covering everything -- you could walk through it, but just barely, and you had to watch out for bugs and snakes and rodents and god knows what else.

I remember this one summer night when I was around thirteen, my neighbor and I were hanging out in front of my house. It was really late at night, almost pitch black. I lived a couple of miles outside the city limits so there were no streetlights. You could barely see your hand in front of your face.

We started hearing this very faint violin music coming from somewhere. It freaked us both out, but at the same time we were curious. Slowly, nervously, we started to walk in the direction the music was coming from. As we walked the music grew slightly louder, but you still couldn't hear it clearly. It would rise and fall on the wind. It sounded very... ghostly. It seemed to be coming from behind my house.

As we stalked toward it we tried to figure out why the hell we might be hearing ghostly violin music coming from my backyard in the middle of night. Both of our families were asleep. I had some other neighbors who lived in front of my house, across the road. I saw their garage was open and they had a light on inside. But the music was coming from behind my house, and there was nothing there but that patch of wilderness, and an empty field beyond that.

I grew more and more apprehensive as we approached the backyard. The music, though still faint, had become slightly louder. I was scared as we started to round the corner of my house. Would there be some kind of insane violinist standing in my backyard?

We rounded the corner. I gazed all around my back yard, yet didn't see anything unusual. But the music was clearly coming from somewhere in that wild thicket. We cautiously approached it and peered into it's dark depths. And then, suddenly, the music stopped. Everything was quiet, except for the faint sound of the wind in the trees.

We walked around a bit more, wondering aloud about what it might have been. Eventually we just kind of laughed it off. But we both clearly felt as though something vaguely supernatural had just gone down.

Anyway, I never heard anything like it again, until a few years ago when I was visiting my parents. I couldn't sleep one night and walked outside for some air. I heard some faint music, just like that night many years ago. This time I took a different approach, and walked in the opposite direction. The music became fainter at first, but then after I walked for a bit, it started to grow louder. Eventually I realized that there was a radio or something playing in the garage of the neighbors in front of my house, maybe five hundred feet away. I realized that what I had heard long ago must have been the sound waves bouncing weirdly off that thicket behind my house.

So the moral of this long story is that people have a natural predisposition to be afraid of things they can't explain and that fear makes us grasp for simplistic explanations like ghosts. But if you look hard enough, you can always find a reasonable answer.

What he said. I agree. Even though, I "think" I have seen one when I was a kid, the only reason I think that is because I can't think of any of reason for what I "saw." But it certainly could've been a daydream, or a memory I formed when I was a teen for some unknown reason. But I otherwise, don't really believe in them. I mean, either they don't exist and I formulated the experience for some unconscious reason, OR they do exist, and I saw one, and I refuse to believe it.

Holy hell. Look at this side! Some ignorant douche decided to down vote everyone with a sense of rationality! Don't you wish there was an automatic system alerting everyone that gets down voted and who down voted you? Man, we could ban the people ruining this site so much faster if that existed.

Maybe they were hoping you would attribute it to some ghost ;)

People who believe in ghosts usually base it on past personal experiences, and fail to realize that there own point of view is too subjective to be the base for any conclusions about the truths of the world...

Ghosts are catorgarised under 'superstitions' and superstitions are make beliefs. Word has it that ghosts are 70% afraid of humans and humans are a mere 30% afraid of ghosts. Ghosts are generally a 'game' that your mind is playing with you, and when you're afraid of ghosts means you're on the losing side. Whatever happens, like doors creaking, seeing things in the mirror, etc. These incidents all have a logical reason behind it--definately not ghosts. It's just your mind playing tricks on you.

i don't believe in ghosts, but i do believe in the supernatural. Science does not explain everything. Take teletubies, barney and friends, or jar jar binks from the new star wars films. If that isn't unatural i don't know what is!

Who believe in ghosts in this modern days?

Theres no such story that ghosts are reflected on the mirror, or it is seen at the elevator because there is no foundation to prove it! Some people say that they saw a ghost, but that is just an optical illusion. This optical illusion is seen because people think a ghost is a scary existence. People who don't believe in ghosts doesn't see ghosts.

Aliens are possible given the mass of the universe. We may never meet aliens, but they are possible.

Zombies are possible. Magic (potions/cures=medicine, spells=hypnosis/psychology, et cetera) is science.

Ghosts/spirits are impossible.

Aliens are possible - you base this statement on theory and conjecture because we as humans have figured out (up to a certain extent) the mechanics of the dimension of space. i agree with you.

magic potions/time travel/cures and hypnosis; all of these are possible because we are slowly figuring out the science of tangible natter - i agree with you.

but when you say "ghosts/spirits are impossible", i am sorry i have to dispute that. 1000 years ago an airplane or traveling to the moon was "impossible" but today it is because we have started mastering space travel. but because we haven't traveled inter-space or inter-dimensional travel can we say that they are an impossibility?! (considering that ghosts/spirits are beings who travel from this dimension to another after they leave the fetters of the mortal body.)

well, If one will stop to consider common sense, we will all agree that you can't live in a world not seeing that we can't be the only life fore in the universe neither here or the after. ALSO using common sense, if you live in a world with billions of people from many places that have for thousands of years have talked, writting, and sang of these like but different expeirences you can't fool yourself in believing that all of these people including myself who has seen ghoast and has expeirenced near death, also those unexplained objctects at night are all on something and I KNOW iM NOT! iT WAS VERY CLEAR TO ME.
