Do you believe we are living in the "last days" as prophesied in the Bible?

While my personal opinion varies a lot, most of my Christian friends believe that we are in the End times. The Bible describes symptons of the end times with "fire from the heavens" (bombs from planes), "one world government" (UN, or other), "one world religion" (many countries and forms of media are slowly regarding all religions on the same level), "one world economy" (This will probably be the solution to solve the recession we're in).

While I respect your belief, your ideas supporting them are rather weak. I'll begin with the whole "one world government" thing. I just came back from Europe and the Europeans find the U. N. as useless as we find the U.N. In their view, the U.S. vetoes whatever it doesn't like, plus we have rogue nations like Libya and Iran as part of the U.N. that we're supposed to take seriously. You have Euro on the brink of collapse and members starting to think about withdrawing from the European bloc. Then, in the U.S. you still have states like Texas talking about succeeding from the U.S. The point is that Europe can't get its stuff together, the US can't get its act together. None of these little governments are working. We are YEARS away from even thinking about GLOBAL government. The U.N. is rather weak example of global government. Your point about a one world economy being the solution to the recession is rather ignorant. The European financial system is in crisis BECAUSE it tried to merge all of these little economies in Europe together. The Euro put little agrarian economies like Greece, Spain, and Italy on the same currency as counties like Germany. Trust me (I trade this stuff for a living) that's a huge mistake. It would be like putting Mexico on the same currency as the United States. That may sound like a big idea, but if you're a bank lending money, you have a heck of a lot more default risks lending to the business in Mexico as you do lending to the business in America. Our economy is just more developed. There's not a bank in the world that wants Mexico on our currency. And that's basically what the Europeans did. They took all of these little countries and put them on the same currency. Now, the central bank is teetering. So, a "one world economy" is NOT the answer and it's not going to happen. I don't really know you mean by the media treating all religions as the same. What would you expect them to do? Favor one over the other? And Jesus is going to come because of that? See, it's not really a question of whether or not I believe in God. If there is a God who created all of this and sustains us to this day, then I have to give him credit for being more intelligent than that. See, I don't believe that Jesus is sitting up in heaven with the emotional I.Q. of a teenager who just broke up with his girlfriend. I don't believe that he's watching us and saying "screw it, the news media isn't biased enough for me. Time to come back". That just doesn't make sense, and, again, I have to God credit for being more intelligent than that.

I do believe that we are living in the last days because there are signs like weird weather, rumors of wars, earthquakes, middle east countries against Israel.

Also people are turning away from Christ that is another prophecy that is true.

No. I don't believe in the divinity of the Bible, so there is really no point in believing Revelations, is there? lol

I think if I were a Christian on my own, I probably wouldn't think it's the end times. I would try to remind myself that Jesus said we wouldn't know when it is coming and to stop thinking I would be an exception to his word.

Let me be clear. I DO NOT believe that we are in the "last days" AS PROPHESIED IN THE BIBLE, but I do think society is about to face a level of turmoil and collapse that has not been seen for generations. Nowadays, everyone is concerned about the collapse of the financial system, the loss of their precious fucking money. I more concerned that we are going to see famine over the next several years and all of the money in the world isn't going to do you any good. Regardless of whether it's global warming or a natural part of the weather cycle, this drought in the U.S. is real and we're not the only country that is being effected by it. We're already talking about a 60% crop failure in the U.S. Plus, crop yields are down globally as well. We're going to have to turn to the world markets to buy our food supply in the United States. That's going to get VERY expensive. There's only so much supply to go around. Climatologist believe that this is actually the beginning of climate shift. The drought is likely to continue. Feeding everyone is going to be harder and harder to do. As the Romans said, Every society is no more than three meals away from Revolution. I know we like to think we live in a civilized society, but we're not a society that used to going without food. What will you do when the grocery store is empty and you have eaten in three days? How long will you go without food before resorting to drastic measures? What would you do if your neighbor was hoarding food while your children starved? It's nice to sit in your house and quote Bible verses, but I know the kind of Bible verses you'll quote when you're starving. You're not going to sit idly by while your children die. You're going to do whatever is necessary to survive. After all, you're part animal. So, is there upheaval coming? Hell yes. Is it because we pissed off Jesus? No. It's because of climate change.

Seeing as I don't believe in the bible... then I'd have to say no. And in all honesty, the world tends to go in cycles, a lot of what we're experiencing now is not the first time the world has experienced it, and it won't be the last.

And I'm sure all the other people who just heard that the world was going to end before made up stories to connect it to their beliefs. You see what you want to basically.

No, there is no reason to believe these are the end times. As much as I'd like to think Obama is the Antichrist, I don't think that's true. Besides, only God knows when the revelations will occur, so it probably won't happen when everyone thinks it will...
