So if you say all religions are cults do you feel we would be better with out any organized religion? If so what do you supose we believe in as a higher power?

'Better' is a tricky and possibly subjective criterion. There is no convincing evidence to suggest there is a 'higher power' of any kind. I think we can all get along just swell without maintaining any religious mythology as facts.

Yes. Organized religion only leads to hate. Everyone should learn to find belief on their own, not because some religion or holy book tells them what to do. Believe in God because you believe, not because it is how you were raised or brainwashed into.

That higher power is already there, and it always will be..just beyond our comprehension, dwarfing everything: The Unknown.

I believe Mormons are following a disguised satanic faith. They are a cult because they will not allow nonmormons to go to their wedding ceremonies or into their temples. Only cults have something to hide. Its followers blindly believe and are taught not to question and their lives are heavily influenced and controlled by their church. I believe they are satanic because my mormon friends told me that they believe in exultation, that when they die they will become a god or goddess. This is why the devil, who was once an angel, was cast out of heaven, because he desired to take God's place and have his power.

I'm slightly on the fence about this, since I'm not an expert on mormonism. But here's why I'm leaning to this side: The mormons take their children to the front of the church, starting when they are 2 or 3 years old, and whisper "the child's" testimony in his or her ear. So these kids grow up having told themselves that they know this church is true before they even have any idea what their words mean. Now, starting testimony-giving that young isn't an actual doctrine of the church, but it is a heavily encouraged process, so the indoctrination process is a part of that religion as it is practiced at this time. Also, children are required to be baptized at the age of 8, which is way too young to actually know what you believe. In my opinion, because of the indoctrination that takes place in this religion, mormonism may be a cult.

Mormonism is as much a cult as any other religion. Weird "fundamentalist" offshoots might be more cultish, but that's true for any religion. It has its beliefs that aren't possible to test with science, just like all religions do.

Cults are usually upstart "religions," or extremist, literalist sects on the far reaches of an established religion. The Mormons have been around for quite a long time, have a great variety of followers, and preach a message of peace and compassion, just like many other Christian churches and other faiths. They are not inherently extremist or otherwise cultish, those are just views propagated by those attempting to degrade Mromonism in the eyes of the world. Disclaimer: I am not a Mormon.

Then the only thing which makes a religion valid is time?

I'd agree with that, because when people try to start up religions, other people around don't take it seriously because it's usually quite clear that it's all a bullshit story created as a power-grab.

Mormonism is no different than any other religion in this aspect.

Christianity was a cult in the beginning, with fanatic followers with ridiculous claims, hoping to usurp the common religions of the day with their new one.

It happens over and over again, and the roots of these cults get lost in time and fade from common memory, and because the cult has been established so long, it's legitimized in the eyes of most.

I think its a religion. The think some people (usually other Christians) label Mormonism a cult in an attempt to slander and reduce it.

Do you know anything of the founding of the church?

The man (Joseph Smith Jr.) claimed to have found tablets written by Jesus on his post-postmortem vacation to Mexico, and that he could read them because of magic glasses. Oh and he was killed by a mob for quelling free speech by destroying a printing press which was used to publish information critical of the church.

Sound like a cult now?
