We are as prepared as anyone is , but Mother Nature is much bigger than man will ever be. The one that interest me is Super Volcano's , why we have one here in the States called yellow Stone, which erupts every 60,000 years , guess what folks , it is over due .... Might want to brush up your Spanish if it ever blows :) and go south Side: yes
Yellowstone almost certainly will blow again in the future, but not all of its eruptions are supervolcano eruptions. The three it has had since the hot spot moved in the region of the caldera have been roughly 700,000 years apart. But its not really on a rigidly set cycle. As far as going South, you'd actually be better off going to San Diego/LA (or better yet New England or Eastern Canada) to avoid the initial ash fall, than you would be going into most of Mexico. That being said, anywhere you go there would be a massive food shortage over the next few years. Side: No

I do have confidence in our Government/Emergency Services. Like stated in the Yes side you can only be so prepared.. It would just cost too much to prepare for let us say a meteor hitting new york, Or a 100000 year earthquake along the Appalachia. I DO NOT however have confidence in the United States as a people in our disaster preparedness. People in the U.S. are in panic over the the Nuclear reactors in Japan. If the nation's people are in panic and disarray it affects how well the emergency services can do their jobs. So basically we have the means to deal with a disaster.. but we panic and get stirred up into a media riot so quickly that it disables our ability to cope with major disasters. Side: No
