I understand that you wish to protect your political position, but there really is no need. War is always about resources and power. In fact, I can't think of a single war that was fought for anything else. There's just no point to it otherwise.

Call it "steal" if you wish, but it's a little more complicated than that. Saddam Hussein's government was becoming intransigent and unstable. It had to be removed, and the most reliable way to do that was to destroy it.

Perhaps you genuinely believe that the war was about democracy, but if we actually cared about that, we would be in Burma, not Iraq. Burma, however, has no significant oil producing facilities, or any other resources significant enough to fight over, so an invasion would be largely useless.

War has quite simply never been fought over anything but power. I have tried and failed to think of even one war which was not. Think on it. The first world war was fought over the balance of power, the second over German dominance of Europe. All civil wars are by definition fought over who wields power. Religious wars are fought to keep power in the hands of a particular religion. The list goes on.

I assume you mean to say that I am implying that war is not fought over personal disagreements. That depends upon the historical context. Personal disagreements were generally just a pretext for deposing a leader and conquering an area of land.
