Or anyone else that threatens your life. I agree The obvious problem is that if one of you gets shot and dies the other can simply say to police their life was threatened. It is difficult to disprove that if the only other witness is dead because you shot them. Hence, stand your ground laws genuinely benefit people looking to get away with murder. Furthermore, there are a lot of stupid, paranoid people around who might misinterpret a situation and end up killing someone because they thought they were being threatened. There are also people just looking for an excuse to shoot you, and will subsequently take every possible opportunity to interpret something you say as a threat. Indeed, there have been plenty of times on this very board where I have made jokes and then been accused of death threats by morons like Mingiwuwu and Amarel. Stand your ground laws would be perfectly acceptable if the second amendment didn't exist, but it does. As a result, they only encourage shootings. Side: No.

Yes. I should be allowed to protect myself against white supremacists, Nazis and racist Your best chance of that is suicide. I would be extremely entertained to discover what you think a Nazi white supremacist racist is, if it is not an idiot who sits on the internet all day spamming far right memes, attacking Muslims, blacks and liberals, lying and distorting everything he possibly can, worshipping his own flag and perpetually brown-nosing a man which many Holocaust survivors have compared to Adolf Hitler. In short, which universe are you living in? Because it sure as shit isn't this one kid. Side: No.
Stand your ground laws are often simply the removal of specific language from current law. By removing the requirement to first run away from a lethal threat, stand your ground laws enable a person to respond to a lethal existential threat with lethal force without first attempting to flee. When that law is used as an excuse to shoot and kill a person who is running away from you, even if they tried to be aggressive first, no I do not. If they are still attacking you when you shoot and kill them then yes. The latter is strictly defense, the former is retribution and vengeance. Side: No.
Stand your ground laws simply remove the requirement that a person first attempt to flee a lethal threat before responding with lethal force. This typically would not apply to a person who is running away from you. Except in Texas where they have a specific law that says you can shoot a thief who is fleeing in the night, but that's another topic. Side: Yes.
