Do you think it is right to judge someone by the color of their skin?
How can you tell where a person is from by looking at the color of their skin? What if they are white and from South Africa? What if they are Black and from Brixton in England? What if they are middle eastern, and from Detroit? Moreover, you cannot see what "race" they are. Race is an arbitrary construct. We are all human, and genetically, we are almost identical to each other because our species is so young. There is no fundamental difference between the different "races." So, seeing what "race" someone is, is totally useless. 2

Well technically you have to, and we make all sorts of judgement every single day, almost all day, not that those judgement are necessarily bad or good. So I wouldn't say it's right or wrong to judge a person by the color of their skin, it's just natural, and it depends on what the judgement is about. 1

If I see someone who is extremely pale, I think I can safely assume that they don't get out in the sun much. That has a strong correlation with certain personality traits and activity preferences, even if it is not 100%. It would not be wrong for, say, a surfer looking for new friends to surf with to focus on people with tanned skin and overlook those who are as pale as the driven snow. |
