Well both of the answers seem to presuppose that it is going to happen, (that is they are loaded)

but obviously this choose is closer to my sentiments.

It could be that mankind destroy´s itself (nuclear war for example)

But just because that would happen doesnt mean that descriptions from the bible who are saved from criticism by their own vagueness, are in any way right for other reasons than luck.

Why anyone would belive that is beyond me.

Because there are "wars and rumors of wars"? Then the last days have been imminent every damn day for the last 2000 years.

Because there will be "famines and earthquakes in various places"? Once again, last days have apparently been right around the corner every single day for the last 2000 years.

Etc, etc...

Yay biblical prophecy. Astoundingly successful at predicting the sun would rise in the morning and set at night since ancient times!
