Do you think they should erase your account if you are gone for a long time?

It depends on what you call a long time. If no interest has been shown for about a year or more, I think they should clear it out to free up space.

Side: yes

Yes I know I was looking at peoples accounts that were last signed on about 100-1000 days ago.

I think a thousand days is way too long for an account to be inactive. I think a year is a good cut-off point. If the people are interested in maintaining their account, they will come back in time to keep it active. If I was away for a year, that would be a good sign that I no longer cared about it and would just as soon have them remove the account.

Yes, if your account has been inactive for a long period of time, they should.

Which many appear to be doing without being cancelled. (socks)

if they have been inactive for about 6 months then yes they should close them out.

I say yes because the creator of this site can do whatever he/she wants. If old accounts are corrupting the service, then delete it.

And what if it was not their fault? What is they could not get to the computer for a substantial amount of time although it wasn't their fault? Would you erase their hobby out of cold blood because they cannot get to a computer?

While "a long time" can be relative; I would say if you are gone a year or more then yes, your account should be closed.

Some people would say if you haven't signed on in a week then you should be deleted. Granted, these people are 13 with no life to speak of.

I've taken a break from an old site I used for a year, life just gets complicated sometimes, and it'd be disappointing if a person gets free time only to find a hobby has disappeared.

But you can always create a new account if that happens .

But then you lose all that old stuff from the old account. That's kind irrelevant here, unless you really care about points, but sometimes you want to see old messages and stuff.

No, but I do think they should delete all fake accounts, no one should be allowed to have more than one account so they can up vote themselves and give multiple down votes to others.

Side: No

I think they should go into a stand bye mode where you can't see them if you look them up on the site, but if they log on they are returned to normal.

If someone were to go to hospital or something that disabled them from using their account then why should their account be erased? If it is not their fault and they had no major input then why should they be punished?

On the other hand if they purposely decided not to show an interest then you may want to erase their account. But how can you be sure they have not been in trouble or unable to use their account? To be on the safe side, don't erase their account.

Side: No

Absolutely NOT, Micheal Jordan and Magic Johnson haven't played basketball for a long time, should we erase their records from basketball? No, the same goes for this.
