Do you think vigilanties should be forced to do good in their own way.

Why would vigilantes be bottled up into one area when they could make this world the best it ever was.

I think vigilantes should been given the option of to say there piece and do what they feel is right and deal with it there own way not violently or violently without taking someones life. Murder should be the end of vigilantism but people see it as a act of courage or an act of sheer tyranny.

The problem with taking the law into your own hands is you cannot possibly know all the factors that lead up to who or what you are dealing with. For example:

The trespasser you shoot may just be a drunk, or someone's grandma suffering from dementia

When you respond to a person yelling "help, thief" by beating up the alleged thief you may find out the person yelling is just a jilted girlfriend exacting revenge - which you just carried out on an innocent person

When you firebomb a drug kingpen operation it may turn out they were squatting in the home of someone out of the country for the summer and utterly unaware their house was being used

When you puncture the tires on a giant SUV you may think you're saving the planet from waste and pollution, only to find out a family with 6 kids needed a car that size because it's the best way to transport all their kids in car seats at the same time

Hey, we've all had scenarios where someone got really really mad about something and you had to calm them down because they didn't understand as much as they thought they did. Vigilantes are those angry "I'm going to do something and do it now" people, and it's up to the rest of us to appropriately say "hold on there, let's talk about this first..."

The other day I heard a noise in my front garden, so looked out the window only to find Batman puncturing the tires of my Bentley Continental GT!

The Caped Crusader then proceeded to give me the middle finger and sucker punched my grandma because her disgruntled ex-lover said she was a murderer.

These vigilantes are out of control.

Grenache pretty much covered it. Jumping to conclusions in vigilantism makes it so easy to go from trying to get justice to just plain being a criminal. Without all of the information and all of the sides there is no way someone would be able to make a correct assumption on who is right and who is wrong.

I do see your point but don't see how you can't seem to understand why some people see vigilantes as everyday people who do good against their everyday rules. But I do agree with you on the topic.

To clarify. I think there is potential for good vigilantes, however the potential for bad ones far outweighs the benefit. Look at how people are now. They jump to conclusions based on preconceived notions of right and wrong and beat on others without getting facts.
