Does Free Will Exist?

Does Free Will Exist? To me that question begs the question, free from what? Universal limitations..? I would say not. Beyond that I can only say it exists in various degrees and in relation to the favorable or unfavorable conditions in the surrounding environment.

I suppose if someone had knowledge of EVERY atom in the universe at a given point in time, and perfectly understood one atom's interaction with all others in the universe, that person could predict the future. Rather, if you have the knowledge of everything influencing one particular object, you can predict the object's behaviour.

I doubt there is any influence (divine or otherwise) outside of these simple interactions. With that assumption, I guess it can be said that everything will happen in only one way. Thus, there is no free will.

In a literal sense, of course. It's a rather pointless question with an obvious answer. The better question is, "Should the fact that free will doesn't exist influence our lives in any way?" That, too, is a stupid question, but I'd see it as the lesser of two stupids.

In any case, the answer to both questions is still no.

Keep in mind that this depends entirely on what constitutes free will. This argument can be applied to both sides depending on the definition of free will.

Of course it does. The question alone proves it. You freely choose yes or no. You may even freely choose not to answer at all, or you may freely choose sometimes. External variables may influence your choice, but influence is not force. If there was no free will, we would all have to choose no.

No it does not. It never does, it never will. the world will always have rules eather you hate them or not, even they hurt or not, even if they kill us or not. the humanity will never have free will.

Your argument says it all. Either you hate it or you don't. Hence you exercised free will. Rules will always exist. No disputing gravity now is there. I like it, but you don't have too, and maybe tomorrow I won't like it and I'll curse the heavens for it's inception. Point is, you chose how you felt about it.

Could you define free will?

I would say that free will exists but humans will never exercise it...

Side: Phh, NO!

No one asks to be born, therefore, free will does not exist.
