Does Geography Really Matter?
I have been studying Harm de Blij's book "Why Geography is Important." I find his position and evidence rather valid on why it is important. However, I want to see what the public thinks. Give your position and reason why.

Yes geography is important. In fact I am in geography right now! It helps us understand the different types of cultures around the world and how there way of living is in different countries then how are way of live is. It also helps us what religion the other countries follow and we study the religion that is in particular countries. Side: Geography is important

Haha Well I think you are kind of misunderstanding here: The book is intended to inform people of the world's (AKA America's) increasing geographic illiteracy, along with stating some important uses for geography and why it should be understood to lead to a better world. The first 3 chapters is more or less consisted of all of this. The chapters afterward touch on subjects like China's rising economy, global warming, and terrorism. But still, it's sad that a lot of Americans cannot use simple maps to navigate and turn to their phones for navigation. Side: Geography is important
Of course, however modern geography is not about igneous rocks and volcanic events. More about tourism and sustainability. Those two words are mentioned at least 5 times in my geography lessons. All we learn about is "is Gambia a sustainable tourist destination" "Is the rain forest a good place for sustainable tourism" "Is Bristol a sustainable place fr..." Modern geography is useful, but not as much as it used to be. Side: Geography is important
