Does Hollywood have a 'shock factor' any more?

Could they make any movie/tv show that would actually cause extreme controversy?

Could they make a film so brutally graphic people would leave the theater, or have we seen it all and become desensitized?

Yes, I am absolutely, positively shocked when I actually get the feeling that it was worth my time and money to come see a movie while it's in theaters.

I'd say that I've seen between (this is a conservative estimate, mind you) a minimum of 16,000 deaths in the last five years alone. I've seen Lord of the Rings extended edition about three times, which has about 2500 deaths. There is 7500 deaths just there. I've seen every episode of Star Trek (most more than once) and there is probably several thousand deaths right there. I've seen AVP and Alien and Aliens, there's a few hundred deaths right there. I've seen Commando and the Rambo movies - there is another 1000+ right there.

Boy, the bodies really start to add up.
