Does foster care hurt the child more than it helps?

YES!

Side Score: 7

What's the alternative? Clearly they don't have parents that are able or willing to take care of them. They could stay in an underfunded orphanage with 20 other children...

NO, BECAUSE MOST CHILDREN DONT HAVE A FAMILY ANYWAYS AND SO IT MITE BE BETTER IF THEY WERE IN FOSTER CARE, OR SOME KIDS PARENTS BEAT THEM OR MENTALLY ABUSE THEM, AND I THINK THEY WOULD RATHER BE IN FOSTER CARE FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY

Side: NO!

Children want to be loved and wanted, so, foster care is a good alternative.

Side: NO!

Yes it does because they want parents who love them and treat them with respect. The foster care might be mean to children and the children don't know what it means to be loved by a father and mother.

Who says all foster parents are mean? If they had parents to go to, wouldn't they already be with them?

yes sometimes, the foster parent for that certain child can be match up wrong , with the needs of a child,, they dont always get it right.. its cruel in the first place children have to be there in the first place.people should not be allowed to have kids if they cant cut it becoming a parent, its a very big step becoming a parent and should not be taken lightly, because if it goes wrong, the kids have to suffer and take the rap, for there parents actions, if they die of course they cant help it. a foster parent trys their best, to help the child, through support emotionaly but it is not the same having your parent there...it can take a long to for someone to adopt a child, and in the mean time the poor kids are in the system, floating between foster home after foster home, they are waiting for that permante home. sometimes they go to adopted parents, if that does not work out they go back to a foster parent.... i am looking into fostering and adoption, been told cant appy do both, i have to do one or the other.. it usets me there are so many kids out there wanting a loving family, it breaks my heart, why is this happening ,society is letting them down. yes alot of the time it does screw them up, and there are few that are not hurt by it..so maybe theres an agruement in this why do the mothers have the pregnancy in the first place, there giving up their babies to a system that is not working well..... is it. my friend was brought up this way, he does not want kids of his own because of this... shame, if that was me id have kids, and give them what id never had , and love them unconditionley..do the opposite to what, there life was.. positive thinking......

But that goes beyond the point of the debate. We are not debating whether or not it is ethical to have children who you cannot support.

`

Foster care vs. orphanage? Foster care any day.

`

Foster parents are often people with big hearts. The child was not forced upon them- they chose to adopt him/her. They go through intensive interrogation and background check to see if they are suitable parents.

`

I know a foster parent who is also a teacher. She has adopted about 5 children over the course of her adulthood so far. She can be seen out of work walking her child, teaching the child, and raising the child as her own. The child will eventually know that it is adopted.

`

The NO! side argues that the child deserves a true mother and father. However, if you asked the adopted child, Ann, of my teacher, if she would want a true set of parents over her foster parents, I guarantee you she would say no. They are one and the same to her.

YES, BECAUSE THE KIDS ARE GETTING TAKEN AWAY FROM THEIR FAMILIES.

“It is alarming numbers, such as one in five of those children in foster care is living a slightly sane life. Seventy percent of prisoners come out of the foster care system. Thirty percent of the homeless population derive from foster care. Sixty percent of the children in foster care are on psychotropic medications.”

Asked the adults what WERE it like to be taking from your their parents and placed in police car and sent to a foster home and know that the only reason you placed in the home is only for the MONEY

See not all foster parents are in it for the money. In fact what money is in it?

In fact I believe all parents should be held to the standards of foster parents.
