Does God help you in your life? Does God answer prayers?

According to the Islam, The Prophet Muhammad (saws) has said in a Hadith narrated by Abu Huraira: Make a Dua( prayer) and be assured of being answered and know that Allah ( God in arabic) does not answer a Dua from people with a careless heart , which is not concentrating at all. The  Prophet ( peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that slave or believer will receive a response very fast if the wish not involve sin. Some people who made a dua says that they did but haven't recieve anything any response are hasty and stop doing it at all gets of being frustrated. The person who is praying and asking God for help is heard. There are many people whose prayer aren't answered. There are many reasons why it's like that. I would like to inform you and give few arguments why your prayer aren't  excepted.

1) You're not praying regularly or probably you're not praying at all

2) You're not fasting during Ramadan or Paskha if you are Christian

3) You're not paying your almsgiving to poor people

God Sees everything and hears all prayer of his slaves. God is the Merciful, He is the one creator of Earth and everywhere. God knows everything you desire. Change you life , belive in God, and you will be on the right way of this life. Ask help , pray to God always , follow religion  and deserve your happy and peaceful future in Paradise forever.

God does help me in my life. God does answer prayer but he is not going to answer it right away. It's God's will if He want's to answer it or not. I prayed to God to heal my grandma from cancer and God choose to take my grandma's life and she is in Heaven and healed from the cancer and was a fellow believer in Jesus Christ. Sometime God doesn't answer prayers. Some prayers can be answered years from now. I have prayed many prayer's to God and sometimes He doesn't answer and I am patient. He can also respond in many different ways. Through the Bible, through a person or a sermon that someone is preaching that is when I know my prayers have been answered.

God does help me in my life. God does answer prayer but he is not going to answer it right away. It's God's will if He want's to answer it or not.

What a carefree thing... he isn't going to help someone just because he doesn't want to do it? God is really arrogant then... He doesn't freaking care about humans he created, he's irresponsible, and intolerable. As a creator of this universe (even though I don't believe it) he should have helped every man in need, but in fact, he let many died (of disease). The existence of hospital proves that you need not to pray.

I prayed to God to heal my grandma from cancer and God choose to take my grandma's life and she is in Heaven and healed from the cancer

Oh, my, did Gabriel or the other angel or even the God tell you about that? How could you know about that? :D isn't it God's will to put your grandma in either hell or heaven?

Some prayers can be answered years from now

He's busy eh? you'd rather study than pray boy (I heard from someone here that you're 15), if you study now, you'll get smart immediately, and when you pray, you'll have to wait again, hey! we can't wait in this modern era!!! everything's moving fast, so don't go waste your time! if it's only a matter of God's will, then answering your prayers in 100 years would be possible for him :) you'll get nothing , you got it? (your prayers will NEVER BECOME TRUE)

God has answered my prayers. Sometimes when I pray to God and a few days later after I pray He responds to me by different things. Sometimes when I am reading the Bible He speaks to me there and also sometimes when a pastor is preaching about something then I notice that God answered my prayer.

Also a hospital doesn't prove that you can stop praying. The doctors there can't cure every single disease or sickness. You know why there is disease and suffering? It is because of sin.

My grandma did not go to hell because she was a believer in Jesus Christ and was reading the Bible every single day for hours and studying God's Word. Angels don't take the soul away. God is the giver of life and death. He ends people's life and He gives people life.

I don't see how this instance helps your case. You just said that you prayed for your grandma to be healed but she died. How is that in any way answering your prayer? You are trying too hard to rationalize the fact that your prayer was not answered. So if your god exists(which you insist he does) he stood idly by as your grandmother suffered and as she died and did nothing. How can you believe in a god this cruel?

Well, if prayer is so powerful, why don't we just fire all the meat inspectors and then pray away salmonella, H1N1 and H5N1? You know what? There are a couple more people we could do without if prayer was that powerful. We could do without teachers and pray for kids to learn on their own. We could do without authors and pray for books to magically write themselves. We could also do without priests, prophets and pastors and pray for "God's Word" to spread itself. While we're at it, we could do without people like you on this site and then pray for stupid, unlettered, unintelligent, unintelligible, illogical and irrational arguments to write themselves as well.

Of course, all of the above are written with obvious sarcasm (maybe one of us atheists could pray for the theists to understand the difference between the sarcastic and polemic as well). But the real reason why atheists don't see the need to pray at all is simple: there is no evidence to show that God exists and therefore, we should suspend judgement and not presuppose that he does.

It's not God's "will" whether he wanted to answer you or not. It's all in nature; all in science research. Your grandma died of cancer because her body is fragile. As you grow your body ages and it can't be reversed. She was more of in the likes of losing her life not because "God didn't answer your prayer" but because we humans cannot live thousands and millions of years.Your Grandma is not in Heaven because you have never been there and you have never seen it. Nor have you seen a God before and nor can you tell me about the afterlife in heaven. If heaven is proven to be true I wouldn't even care to waste my time here on Earth.

It is God's will whether He wants to answer it or not. He is God and sometimes it can take years for my prayer to be answered but that doesn't stop me from praying. It says in the Bible to pray without stopping even if He doesn't answer we should continue to pray.

My grandma is in Heaven because she believed in Jesus Christ and served and did His will. And I know she is in Heaven because she was godly women and everyday she would read the Bible for hours everyday when she was alive. Also she told me to do the same thing. I know there is a heaven because Jesus said in the Bible that He will prepare a place for us in Heaven for us Christians that believed in Him and did His will.

I know I can't see God but I know He is real because in the Bible it says that the disciples and people were eyewitnesses of his glory.

From ancient time people believed in different powers and prayed for them. Someone believed and prayed to nature while others trusted in God. In this manner appeared religions-one of the most powerful phenomenons in the world. Everyone believe in their own religion.

As a muslim I trust in God and His religion in the whole. You know, religion is a positive impact on humanity. But of course it is up to how you accept it. God is very kind and appriciates those who prays and follows Him. Life is very complex and humanity faces a lot of troubles in his/her life. i could bring some examples from my life. There are some situations, that I feel if there is no success (I mean God's help) I cannot overcome that problem. Therefore I pray God to help me and in result I overcome that problem, that means God answered me. I do not know other lives, but in my life i felt a lot of God's help, even I cannot imagine. There are special "suras" and "ayas" for different situation. For example, for success in a competition. I already experinced such "ayas" in competitions and won them, however I did not expect even third place...

In conclusion, i would like to add that God is our creator and it is all in His choice, whether making us happy or successful or unsuccessful in our life. The only thing we must to do: just trust in God and follow his regulations. Only then you can find the happiness of the both worlds.

What are you, the Islamic Tim Tebow?

Instead of crediting your god with helping you win whatever competition it was that you won, shouldn't you be more concerned with why he doesn't help 30,000 children a day win their competition with starvation?

In is necessary to mention that people should pray to God not only when they feel bad but also when they feel good and they are happy. Only if people do this, God will help them.

A few years ago there was this Christian church in Africa, and a waring tribe burned it down.

It was full of kids... praying presumably.

Guess they didn't pray hard enough? ._.

I always find it curious that an all powerful being would require mortals to pray to him anyway. It would be like myself jealously throwing fits should ants and other small insects not get on their knees and babble about my greatness on a regular basis. Why should I, or god, care about that?

So what if it was full of kids? Kids die everyday, if they pray, or not. Praying "hard enough" doesn't made life like rainbows & butterflies or makes you immortal & be without suffering. Maybe God had called their time on earth to an end, maybe it was time to go home with Him, idk, because i don't know what God's plan is or what's best for me like He does. And praying to God isn't "babbling about His greatness on a regular basis", it's talking with Him. Also, maybe one day you can ask God that. Why SHOULD you care?

Quite frankly, why debate about prayers, because while they do work for the faithful, the people who don't believe can't really connect, so obviously they have no actual opinion to place here. sadly they have no one to guide them; they've never prayed. Make a Dua to Allah!

Let Others Make a Dua For You…

Consider this Hadeeth of the prophet (SAWS): The Prophet (saws) said:

Whenever you make a supplication for another believer and he is not present, an angel will say ‘and same to you.’

Enter Your Dua Anonymously Now (below) !

Let Hundreds Pray For You !

Dear brothers and sisters: Trials, tribulations and challenges are part of every person’s life. However, to counter that, Allah has provided us a very powerful tool – and that is the tool of du’a or asking

Allah for help and his mercy when we need it. And we need it all the time…. Equally importantly, we forget at times that Allah has also provided us the opportunity to dramatically increase the effectiveness of our own Dua’s by encouraging us to make dua’s for other brothers and sisters in

Islam. Consider this Hadith by the Prophet (saws):

“The supplication that gets the quickest answer is the one made by one Muslim for another in his absence.”

…… Reported by Abu Daw’ud and Tirmidhi

This site provides you that opportunity – You can enter a Dua (Supplication) below (anonymously) and hundreds who visit this site can make that dua for you! Basically, you are letting hundreds of other people make that Dua for you to Allah on your behalf.

Imagine!

If Allah accepts the Dua of even ONE person who can make that Dua for you, your wishes can be granted.

One of the Dua that has higher chances of being is the Dua of a Muslim for his brother without the latter’s knowledge.

Think of the many people who can make dua for you and the many angels’ duas you can get by making dua for others.

So, you should do the following three steps:

Enter your Dua (Supplication to Allah) below. Enter anything you desire from Allah directly. You do not have to enter your name. You can use an alias or an abbreviation. Others who see your dua below can make a dua to Allah for you. The more make the dua for you, the more the chances of your Dua being accepted.

You should make a Dua for all others who have entered their dua below. You will not only increase the chances of their dua being heard BUT you will also have angels making a dua for you (see hadith above)

Send the Web address of this site to as many as you can. Remember, there is nothing to lose. The more people can make dua for you (the one you enter below), the more chances of your dua (supplication) being heard by Allah.

And your Lord said: “Invoke Me, (i.e. believe in My Oneness (and ask Me for anything) I will respond to your (invocation)…………..” (Quran: 40: 60)

.

Hadith narrated by Abu Huraira: Make Dua and be assured of being answered, and know that Allah does not answer a Dua from a careless heart which is not concentrating. Source: Tirmidhi in article by Abdul Malik Mujahid, 31 doas to choose from

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The slave will receive a response so long as his dua does not involve sin or severing of family ties, and so long as he is not hasty.” It was said, “What does being hasty mean?” He said: “When he says, ‘I made dua and I made dua, and I have not seen any response,’ and he gets frustrated and stops making dua.” Narrated by al-Bukahari, 6340; Muslim, 2735.

It was narrated that Faddalah ibn ‘Ubayd said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) heard a man making dua after his prayer, but he did not send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “This man is in a hurry.” Then he called him and said to him or to someone else: “When any one of you has finished praying (and makes dua), let him start by praising Allah, then let him send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), then after that let him ask for whatever he wants.” Al-Albani said: it is a saheeh hadeeth. Dua (Supplication) – The Tool for Asking what you want…

Trials, tribulations and challenges are part of every person’s life. However, to counter that, Allah has provided us a very powerful tool – and that is the tool of du’a or asking Allah for help and his mercy when we need it. And we need it all the time…

However, to understand trials and tribulations that we face in our daily lives, we also need to understand the topic of "Sins" and how our sins may be related to our trials and tribulations.

The better we understand the ghastly nature of our sins, and the rate at which we accumulate them, along with their undesirable impact on our daily lives and the hereafter, the more it can propel us away from committing sins in general and the more it will drive us to seek forgiveness for our sins – through making the right Dua’s for us and for others.

Ibn Qayyim provided one of the great descriptions of sins and the impact of sins in this life and after. Here is a very short summary of what he compiled about how our sins impact our lives. [islam-qa.com]

Sins deprive a person of provision (rizq) in this life. In Musnad Ahmad it is narrated that Thawbaan said: “The Messenger of Allah (SAWS) said: ‘A man is deprived of provision because of the sins that he commits.’” (Narrated by Ibn Maajah, 4022, classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh Ibn Maajah).

A sinful person experiences a sense of alienation (indifference) with his Lord, and between him and other people. One of the salaf had said that he could see the impact of disobedience to Allah (in some aspects of his daily life).

A person who commits sins sees that things become difficult for him. In any matter that he turns to, he finds the way blocked or he finds it difficult. By the same token, for the one who fears Allah, things are made easy for him.

‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Abbaas said: “Good deeds make the face light, give light to the heart, and bring about ample provision, physical strength and love in people’s hearts. Bad deeds make the face dark, give darkness to the heart, and bring about physical weakness, a lack of provision and hatred in people’s hearts.”

Sin breeds sin until it dominates a person and he cannot escape from it. Sin weakens a person’s willpower. It gradually strengthens his will to commit sin and weakens his will to repent until there is no will in his heart to repent at all… so he seeks forgiveness and expresses repentance, but it is merely words on the lips, like the repentance of the liars, whose hearts are still determined to commit sin and persist in it. This is one of the most serious diseases that is likely to lead to doom. He becomes desensitized and no longer find sins abhorrent, so it becomes his habit, and he is not bothered if people see him committing the sin or talk about him.

So, we can easily see that by engaging in sins, we are not only making the prospects of our after life (integral part of Islamic faith) bleak but sins can greatly and actively contribute to the difficulties of our daily lives.

Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Whatever of good reaches you, is from Allah, but whatever of evil befalls you, is from yourself…” [al-Nisa’ 4:79]

Whether we encounter challenges in earning a living, in our family affairs, or other matters of life, the burden of sins greatly inhibits us from seeking the ultimate blessings of Allah and to have the potential of leading a good life in this world and the hereafter.

As for making Dua and the enormous potential it holds to help us ask for forgiveness and other things, the following provides a short description.

The following are some of the prophet’s sayings about making Dua to Allah.

Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The dua’ of any one of you will be answered so long as he does not seek to hasten it, and does not say, ‘I made dua’ but I had no answer.’” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5865; Muslim, 2735, from the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah).

In the hadeeth which was narrated by al-Tirmidhi from Abu Hurayrah, who said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘There is no man who prays to Allah and makes dua’ to Him, and does not receive a response. Either it will be hastened for him in this world, or it will be stored up for him in the Hereafter, so long as he does not pray for something sinful, or to cut the ties of kinship, or seek a speedy response.’ They said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what does seeking a speedy response mean?’ He said, ‘Saying, “I prayed to my Lord and He did not answer me.”’” (Al-Tirmidhi, 3859; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 852).

Some people follow practices that are not sanctioned by the Quran or Hadith such as repeating some of Allah’s names a few times. A number of scholars have said that “The words mentioned in the question are phrases that are narrated in the Qur’aan and Sunnah, but saying that they must be repeated [so many] number of times is an innovated matter which should not be followed. Rather we should mention them during our dua’s and address Allah by all His beautiful names, without singling out some names or stating that they should be recited a certain number of times or at certain times, making that up ourselves. We should adhere to what was narrated in sharee’ah concerning certain times, places or situations connected to a particular dua’; if no such details were narrated in sharee’ah then we should not make them up ourselves because that is encroaching upon the rights of Prophethood.

In the hadeeth it says: “One of you may be answered so long as he is not hasty and says, ‘I said dua’ but I got no response.’” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6340; Muslim, 2735.

In Saheeh Muslim (2736) it says: “A man’s (dua’s) may be answered so long as it does not involve sin or severing the ties of kinship or hastening.” It was said: “O Messenger of Allah, what does hastening mean?” He said: “When he says, ‘I made dua’ and I made dua’ but I did not see any response,’ so he gets discouraged and stops making dua’.”

The dua’ should not involve sin or severing of the ties of kinship, as stated in the hadeeth quoted above: “A man’s (dua’s) may be answered so long as he does not involve sin or severing the ties of kinship …”

According to the hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah: “Make dua’ to Allah when you are certain of a response.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 245.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Know that Allah does not answer a dua from a distracted heart.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 3479; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 245.

In the hadeeth it says: [The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)] mentioned the man who undertakes a lengthy journey and is disheveled and covered with dust, and he stretches his hands towards heaven saying, ‘O Lord, O Lord,’ when his food is haraam, his drink is haraam, his clothes are haraam. He is nourished with haraam, so how can he be granted a response?

I am a Muslim and i am praying, and those things which i asked God to give me he gave to me and even more. God will always listen to his prayers and he will help them in all cases. Everything depend on us, if someone is praying just for her/his benefit, it is not praying, because when you pray you have to pray from heart, with clean hole and if you are a prayer person you must differ from others and that person who prays he must have very strong belief and that person will get everything she/he wants. God will answer that person!

this to you is a valid argument for the existence & influence of a god? a bunch of naked claims and a suggestion to 'find god' via confirmation bias?

Its easy to imagine there is no god in a world where there is not an iota of objective evidence for a god's existence or influence. it takes no imagination at all.

When a Christian is asked why Their all loving God allows children to be molested and to be victims of cancers and genocide, they cite 'free will' and how god must preserve 'free will' as 'he didn't want us to be a race of robots.' the bible says that if you want something and you ask for it in prayer, it shall be granted. yet every Christian child who is a victim of cancer , molestation or genocide, would pray , asking his god to intervene. we know that there is no intervention and that free will is just an excuse for a likely nonexistent god's inability to intervene. yet Christians still pray that they will 'get that job' and other petty things while children of the world suffer the cruelest of fates without an iota of help from a god. 'free will' cannot exist with 'omniscience', and no prayers are answered if children who pray for an end to their molestation, die at the hands of their tormentors. 'god' is one contradiction after another, and every argument for god is logically fallacious. mostly but not limited to appeals to emotion, and consequence.

This world is a test for everyone. We have been sent in this world to be tested. For every test, there is a result at the end. If the results and the outcome is good then there is a reward for us. But if the results and the outcome is not good then there is punishment.

For this great test, the reward in the hereafter is also great and similarly the punishment is also very severe. And for this punishment, those that fail will have to spend the rest of their time in Jahannam (Hell).

There will be fierce looking angels inflicting various types of punishment for the different sins committed by the people. The Qur’an and Hadith have mentioned the different types of punishments.

For example, boiling water will be poured over the heads, lips will be cut with scissors of fire and so on. The fire of Jahannam has turned black because of its heat. There is no light and it will be pitch black. The food will be poisonous thorny trees and the drink will be the blood and pus from the washing of wounds.

Who will be the inhabitants of Hell? I think people should cry then laugh cuz it's terrible.

It seems that you could pray to a rock and you would have the same 3 outcomes If you had prayed to God.

1.Your prayer has been answered. You got what you wanted HAZAAAA praise the rock!

2.It does not happen, this is because the mighty rock thinks you are not ready, you do not deserve it and you should do it yourself because the rock thinks this is a luxury

3. Other-- It happens but not to the extent you wanted it to this means do the rest yourself.

So what is the difference between praying to the mighty Rock and God?

The Ultimate Proof that god/gods/biblegod doesn't exist:

->

To bring this simplest and most logical proof, I'll use a logic diagram type of chart:

In 3 simple steps I will bring the proofs:

1) either god exists or he doesn't.

-> If he doesn't, goto The End.

-> If he does, then next:

2) if god does exist, either he cares for us and wants us to know about him and his will and plan or he doesn't.

-> If he doesn't then:

Intermediate Conclusion:

If god does exist, but he doesn't care for us to know about him and his will and plan, then a) we should immediately burn every religious books as they are all forgeries and b) we shouldn't seek god since he doesn't want us to know about him.

-> if he does, then next:

3) if god cares for us and wants us to know about him and his will and plan, then since it's clearly established and a very known fact that there are thousands of very different and irreconcilliable gods (note a) then:

-> either he's incompetent in making himself known to ALL of humanity in a very consistent manner thruout the World and History, or

-> he did it right once, but yet he's incompetent in preserving the vital truth!!!

According to all the major religious sources, this truth is absolutely vital since men are to receive life-long blessings, answers to prayers, authorities, rewards and state of Eternal life (basically: in Blissful Paradise or Torments of Hell) solely based on their belief in Him or not (moreover this equals to beliefs in their ancestors creeds!!!)

-> in BOTH CASES god appears to be totally incompetent!!!!

Conclusion 1:

So the only conclusion we can reach is either "Almigthy" god is totally incompetent or he doesn't exist!!!

-> if god is totally incompetent he's therefore NOT perfect and FAR from it!! Then goto Conclusion 2.

-> if god doesn't exist then goto The End.

Conclusion 2:

If god is totally incompetent in that matter:

- then how else incompetent is he regarding ALL the matters that directly concern us?!!

- Then who would trust him??

- Who would trust his abilities to take the right decisions for us??

- Who would trust his judging abilities to correctly send us to Blissful Paradise or Tormenting Hell?? (Isn't he much too old to correctly read the right page and the right information from his Book of Life?! Did he write it correctly in the first place?!)

- Who would trust that his Blissful Paradise is not plagued by forgiven (repentant on earth) liars, conspirators, stealers, murderers, etc. who will get at it again and rotten our peaceful life again?!!!

I tell you believers: if you still believe in your god/s after these perfectly logical demonstrations I would be very worried if I were you!!! or you're highly unconscious!!!

But in reality just relax, because thank god he's just imaginary!!!

In Islam we have proof to all questions that you have because this religion from God and it's unique. Are you laughing because of Punishment in the Grave ? and you don't believe in the life after the death? You know when your time will come you realize that you are nothing without God , you are insect in this huge world. According to one prophet fellow campaigner Al Bukhari , Prophet Muhammad ( saw) said that punishment in the grave will be when ur funeral finished and all ur relatives and people go away, two angels approach the deceased and ask three questions,

a) Who is your lord?

b) What is your religion? and

c) Who is he (Rasulullah)?

A believer will answer all three questions and he will be honored with the clothing of Jannah ( Paradise). The window of Jannah will be opened for him and he will enjoy the sight of Jannah. On the contrary, a disbeliever will express regret at not being able to answer the questions. Upon that, an angel who is blind and deaf is appointed to punish him.

Do you know that after this punishment , next step it's punishment in the Hell for atheists and sinners, and Paradise- Jannah for believers...... There are many arguments that God is Exist, and after the death you will realize it but it is toooo late

I have found in my life that if there is a god, it doesn't interfere with the personal affairs of humankind in any direct way. It doesn’t matter if you are extremely devout, or an apostate.

When a person prays, they always have a fifty percent chance of gaining what they are praying for regardless of what it is or whether their intentions are pure. They either get it, or they don't, fifty fifty. If they do, praise be to God. If they don't... praise be to God. Either way we see it as the will of God, or Allah or Jesus etc.

So if the outcome is going to be by the will of the deity anyway, what would be the point of praying? So the deity knows that you really want it? No, because the deity is all knowing, and already knows what is in our hearts desire. To show that we are dedicated and faithful to the deity? No, because again, the deity is already all knowing and wouldn't need any action from you to show proof of your devotion.

I've discovered a very miraculous thing, call it a revelation if you want, I call it common sense. I've discovered that you could pray to a coffee mug and get the same results as if you were praying to a god. Sometimes you get what you want, sometimes you don't, it’s entirely in the will of the coffee mug... praise be to Coffee Mug.

Does God/Allah/Jesus/Vishnu/FSM/Zeus/Odin/Ra help us in our life?

No. The deities of our species’ history do not exist in reality. There may or may not be a god, I honestly don’t know. But the past attempts to explain or interpret this idea of a god are just that, interpretations. As personal as a definition of true love or beauty, an interpretation of a god is the individual’s attempt at explaining things they do not understand and fantasizing about what they would do to help or judge the world if they had godlike powers. If a person is bitter and judgmental, their interpretation of god will be the same if they believe in one. If a person is completely loving and all forgiving, their god will possess the same characteristics. Even if the god in question has the same name, or falls under the same religion as other people, the interpretation, no matter how much scripture exists to contradict the interpretation, will always relate to the person formulating it. God does not define us, we define God. Man made God in his own image.

Now, this is not to say that we freely develop these interpretations, they may be personal to us, but these interpretations are contingent upon causal factors just like everything else in the universe. Our upbringing, society, experiences, emotions, physiology, even our basic primal instinct of the will to exist and procreate are all factors in everything that makes us, us. And those same causal factors play a role in developing our outlook on things that are subjective, true love, beauty, ugliness, good, bad, god, and devil.

What is it that helps us in our life? Many things do, but not deities. Education, technology, empathy, understanding, critical thinking, acceptance, tolerance, oneness… oddly enough even the belief in a deity is possible in helping us in our life through developing hope or security in a fear and hate filled world, but it is when this belief in a god is an element of discrimination, intolerance, oppression, destruction, etc., that it can be viewed as a bad thing or a hindrance to the species' progression.

One thing that I am convinced of, is that if there is a sentient entity in existence that possess the qualities of mans invention called “God.” It’s obvious by one look at the way things are on this planet, that the all powerful, all knowing, all moral entity does not interfere in the personal affairs of the people on this planet.

Coffee Mug on the other hand, holds my coffee, allows me the ability to take careful sips from its hallowed crown. I am able to physically see it, hold it, and taste from it so I don't need blind faith to know it's there for me. It doesn't develop raving jealousy when I decide to instead partake from the delicate taste of what Teacup has to offer in the evenings during an after-dinner delicacy. Doesn't require sustenance in the form of monetary gain, and many many other more tangible, beneficial qualities... Praise be to Coffee Mug.

This is an interesting debate because all who believe in god do so without questioning why god has to exist in the first place. I think the human mind is so complex that in order to quell our angst we have created a greater power that we believe protects us from all the bad in the world. A long time ago I was exposed to religion and as a child believed the bible stories taught to me at Sunday school. Later on I began to not buy into the bible so much as just believe there was a supreme being. Now I think the most rational thing to believe is that the religious texts are partially correct in that there were influential spiritual speakers who gathered a great number of followers because they had charisma, so much so that we speak of them even today. Humans have always been attracted to charismatic leaders, because if they are delivering the right message at the right time, we will begin to idolize them. I'm not saying that these leaders didn't exist or lied, just that they have been terribly misquoted and when their messages are boiled down to the essences, they are probably telling us things that most of us intuitively know in our hearts about what's right and wrong. If it's wrong we feel uncomfortable, if it's right, barring all religious propaganda, we feel comfortable with it. We don't need a god to tell us when we are wrong, we just have to listen to ourselves and be honest with ourselves.

All the promises of eternal damnation or eternal peace in the after life are meant to modify human behaviour. We need to see that heaven and hell are right here in this plane of existence and personal choice will dictate which way our lives go and therefore the lives of those we hold sway over. A better world needs better individuals.

We can be morally upright without the existence of God. To quote the Physics Nobel Laureate Prof. Steven Weinberg, "Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."

It seems to me that it is a fundamental dishonesty to try and show that theists are "better" in any way when they themselves propagate falsehood and the indoctrination of children.

We can not appear out of nowhere? am I right? and everything on earth came by the wish of God. He is our creator, he is owner of day and night,of the planets, animals, flowers, plants, and the proof of this is the book of God, the Holy Quran. Now in our modern world there are wars, death, starvation, suicide, illness, fear, loss of property. People became angry, because of problems in their lives. All of this was given earlier in the sacred book, that God has send to people through the angel Gabriel, just for checking people. Belief in One God is the most important axiom in Islam. The One God, Allah in Arabic, is the creator of everything else that ever existed, exists or will come to life by His Will. Allah is a living God, the creator, the shaper, the evolver, the Most High, the Exalted and the Perfect. There is none like Him. He has no beginning nor an end. Prophets like Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad performed miracles by the leave of God. May peace and blessings be on all His prophets. It is Allah Who created Adam without parents and Jesus without a father. It is God Who is not in need of sons and daughters. He begets not, nor is He begotton. It is Allah Who sent His final messenger Muhammad fourteen centuries ago as a mercy for the worlds

I am not sure of where you stand, but this is what I can distill: Prayer helps people, but God doesn't answer prayers. Obviously such an argument works only for "wishes" that are more personal and not for something like praying for rain.

Your entire argument here fails. If you can't see something, it doesn't mean that it is not there, that's true. However, it doesn't not mean that the polar opposite is true. You can't say that God exists merely based on the fact that it is not true that we can't see it. The lack of such visual evidence doesn't not constitute a complete factual account of the existence or non-existence of an entity.

The real difference here is those who have been educated with science and those who have been indoctrinated with religious views. There is no proof that God exists. The theological argument and the cosmological argument count for nothing as they both simply sound ridiculous. Science does not put forward a new theory without providing at least some evidence to back it up. The Greek and Roman gods were cast out after being considered 'myths' and completely false. How is Christianity or any other religion different?

If God is omnipotent, why is there disease? People have often said that this is all part of 'God's plan' or that it is all because of human error. This is frankly idiotic. We are part of an extremely civilised culture now and we do not need to make up excuses for things that occur naturally in nature, and without any 'supernatural power' controlling it. If there is God, why does he not answer prayers? If he is omnibenevolent, why would he ignore his followers?

God is not real. Move along with the rest of society.

The more the medicines , the more the diseases ... God knows what , when and how things have to be done ... All humans need is patience ... which most of us don't have!

Some deities seem to answer (I bear in mind coincidence) to rituals that invoke them, such as Weatherworking that calls upon Zephyros. But I tend not to invoke deities that much, as it is better to use your own power and do things yourself. I don't believe in one all powerful, all knowing god, just several all knowing ones (such as the Taras, Buddha) and several extremely powerful ones (As mentioned in ancient Roman, Greek, Nordic, Egyptian, Aztec...)

One of the most important questions facing mankind today is ‘what is the greatest challenge we face?’ There are many issues that the human race must acknowledge if it wants to survive. One of the most prominent problems emerging is in fact religion. Religion has caused the downfall of mankind in many different ways.

To start off, religion has been the basis for many of the wars that have occurred around the world over the course of history. Looking back over the last 3000 years there have been wars with religion at the heart of the problem. Protestants have killed Catholics, Christians have killed Jews, Sunnis have killed Shiites. The list continues. The Crusades from 1095 to 1291 resulted in the deaths of millions. It was all over a matter over who’s beliefs were true, who owned the ‘Holy Land’. As well as this, the IRA movement was influenced quite heavily by Catholicism. Clashes between religions has been a huge problem before, and it still happens now, with the war between 2 branches of Islam, the Sunnis and the Shiites. The Philippines currently has a conflict occurring in the South. This 43 year long conflict has resulted in the deaths of 160,000 civilians.

So why hasn’t anyone dealt with this problem before? The answer is simple. Politicians in the USA are being easily swayed by problems within religion. These leaders listen to religious problems and deal with them first. This means that the other challenges facing mankind are being put second, irrelevant issues in religions.

Furthermore, religion has hindered the progress of Science. A man called Copernicus was the first man to put forward the idea that the Earth went round the Sun rather than the opposite. However, he could not publish his findings as it went against what the Catholic Church said. If he did, he would be branded a heretic and sentenced a lifetime in prison or even death. It wasn’t until 73 years later that his book was finally published, and even then, the Church placed it on its ‘Index of Prohibited Books’. Most people know about Galileo. He was the first man to defy the Church teachings and was taken to court. He was convicted of heresy and was forced to spend the rest of his life under house arrest. Religion has stopped the progression of science, and this is one of the reasons why it is the greatest challenge facing mankind.

Religion has not only been the cause of global conflict, but there are links to religion causing overpopulation. The Catholic Church has always been strongly against the idea of abortion, contraceptive devices and even family planning. The current Pope stated that ‘Condoms are made by the devil’. This means that many Catholic families do not use contraceptive devices as it clashes with their beliefs. This leads to them having more children than they can afford, causing poverty and hunger. The Army of God has been known to bomb abortion clinics and send threatening notes to abortion providers. There have been assassinations and even anthrax attacks. Religion is at the base of these problems.

Finally, religion promotes feminism and attacks gay marriage. The root of gender bias is organised religion. All the major religions have considered woman as inferior and discriminated against them in their traditions, practices, scriptures and theological outpourings. Most religions believed women to hinder religious practice and spirituality. They were considered to be impure. Even now, Muslim women are force to wear Burkas to hide their face. They are not even allowed to look at other men apart from their husband and their husband is the dominant figure in the household. Religion has always been opposed to the idea of gay marriage. Gay couples have been kicked out of places and are generally discriminated against in public places, but even Christians, who believe God is accepting of everyone, discriminate against them as well. In the world today there is an increasing tolerance of gay couples, but religions have not modernised their concepts.

In conclusion, religion is the root cause of many problems around the world. It causes war, hinders science, causes overpopulation and poverty, promotes feminism and opposes gay marriage. It is the source of a large number of challenges that mankind must overcome if it is to succeed as a species. If religions changed their views, things could be better in the world.

It is not because of religion that so many wars have occured , but it is because of the mindset of humans . They have been the root cause but not religion . Why ? Because there is always this feeling in most humans that they are superior . Humans don't see each other as equals . And the fact that women are discriminated in religion is totally wrong . So the fault is on humans ... Don't blame God or Religion for it :/
