Does our society value female sex symbols over female leaders?

Sex and power...our society still values female sex symbols over female leaders. The pace of change is too slow. What say you?

Way too slow and I think the '08 primaries and general election proved that. The way Hillary and Palin were treated by the press and Hollywood was disgusting!

I couldn't agree more. The viciousness directed at female politicians is unfair and unjustified.

Unfortunately, as long as women are the inherently more aesthetically more pleasing gender, breaking societies' value of females as sex symbols will be difficult rather than embracing females as leaders, which is why it will be years before an female will be president.

Look around at society, female sex sells and leaders don't. It is much more rewarding to be Jessica Alba, Jessica Simpson, Miley Cyrus or Britney Spears than Hilliary Clinton, Sarah Palin, Nancy Pelosi or Michelle Bachmann.

Well said. Unfortunately true. Sexism is ingrained from an early age.

dudes usually want the girls that are hot, and without combative opinions, and the other women want male attention.
