Does our world value aesthetic and beauty above other traits?

This issue has been around many years, but I feel as if there is still a debate to be had upon the true meaning of the question and what it implies. Please, what do you believe the world perceives?

Be kind and respectful to all opinions.

The most obvious trait something or someone can have is beauty. As such it makes sense that it would be most highly valued for one must have awareness of something in order to to value it. Further, first impressions are powerful, so imagine if your most wonderful trait was the first thing anyone learned about you. In addition, there is a psychological phenomenon; the "Halo effect". People's motives, actions etc. are perceived more positively if one already knows of a positive trait the person possesses.

First impressions are always going to lean towards beauty and visual. That's just how the world is. The saying "you eat with your eyes first" is very true. Often times the impression first given is the hurdle to get past to want to see deeper.

Yes, and there is no problem with it. People should decide what they want in a person either as a friend or partner.

The world values temporary things which are lost in death ..

I would argue the world values power over beauty. Everything revolves around money and control. In fact, beauty is more often sacrificed for the sake of money.
