CreateDebate is a social debate community built around ideas, discussion and democracy.
If this is your first time checking out a debate, here are some quick tips to help get you started:
Arguments with the highest score are displayed first.
Argument replies (both in favor and in opposition) are displayed below the original argument.
To follow along, you may find it helpful to show and hide the replies displayed below each argument.
To vote for an argument, use these icons:
You have the power to cast exactly one vote (either up or down) for each argument.
Once you vote, the icon will become grayed out and the argument's score will change.
Yes, you can change your vote.
Debate scores, side scores and tag scores are automatically calculated by an algorithm that primarily takes argument scores into account.
All scores are updated in real-time.

When you are ready to voice your opinion, use the Add Argument button to create an argument.
If you would like to address an existing argument, use the Support and Dispute link within that argument to create a new reply.
Surrre. He impregnated a woman with his God Powers and caused himself to be born as a human.
And the holy spirit is that thing that makes people have seizures when they hear certain words of God. I guess it's kind of like enchanted noxious gases floating around that are left over from God's fart.
Hah! Cowards down vote and run because the way I speak the truth makes them tuck their tails between their legs and quiver at my awesome debating prowess!
The "Holy Trinity" is just like the many statues displayed by religions, it is a symbol. The difference between it and statues is that you can reach out and touch a statue. Many think the statue can perform "miracles", many think the same of the holy trinity.
As Robert Persig once said: "When one person suffers from a delusion it is called insanity, when MANY suffer from a delusion it is called religion."
I don't wish to ridicule anyone's belief. They can believe whatever they wish. I DO reserve the right to state my feelings, however. Believe away.
What makes my head hurt is when supposedy intelligent people say they know for sure our complex DNA just randomly happened through evolution. Now that takes more faith to believe than any faith in God or the trinity.
But bigots such as yourself will always try to make fun of Christians. Ask yourself why that is. Ask yourself just once why you are so concerned with what Christians believe. I never hear you speaking to Islamic religious beliefs even when many of these people think it is ok to kill you for your beliefs.
Ask yourself why you are so concerned with Christianity. If you truly think about it, the answer will come.
It's called guilt. It's called insultng those who make you feel bad about yourself when they do not live the irresponsible lifestyles you might live. It's called attacking the one faith that shines a light on man's selfish irresponsible lifestyles.
This is why the Left is so concerned with separating any religious expression in this nation.
If you follow my debates, you would know that I am not an atheist and that I play both sides depending on my mood. If you follow my debates, you would know that I find it hard to believe that consciousness just randomly arose from DNA through evolution. If you follow my debates, you would know that I make fun of Muslims. If you follow my debates, you would know that I am against terrorism. If you follow my debates, you would know that I'm far being a liberal.
If you knew me, you would know that I was raised in the Roman Catholic religion. So, yeah, I feel qualified in talking about Christianity and, no, I do not see myself as being concerned with what Christians believe.
When I say it makes my head hurt, I mean that it doesn't make any sense to me. And you translate that as me insulting Christianity? Is the Holy Trinity such an obvious/common occurrence that it's hard to imagine someone not getting it?
BTW, the last religion I subscribed to was Jehovah's Witness. They too do not believe in the Holy Trinity. So, if you disparage Jehovah's Witnesses, does that make you a bigot too?
I have never once read an argument from you that supported Christianity, so please spare me your denials of what you usually do. If I'm wrong about that, I apologise.
Jehova Witnesses are a man made cult. It's an offshoot of Christianity. I have never once even mentioned Jehovah witness as far as I can remember so to answer your question, no I have not been bigoted toward them.
When I see an argument from you against islam, I will then give you a little more credibility.
You just called Jehovah's Witness a cult! How is that not bigotry? Have you even listened to what they have to say? Their interpretation of the bible? Perhaps Protestants are also cultist.
I am really sorry that trying to understand evolution hurts your head. There is no faith with evolution in regards to DNA. We have directly seen the random events that take place to cause DNA to change. We have sequenced the DNA of different species and can determine how the DNA is different between species. Then, by combining the knowledge from the DNA sequences and our knowledge of mutations we can figure out how the DNA changed through random mutations to become the 2 different species. There is understanding with evolution, not faith.
You missed my point. The complexity of our DNA is so mind boggling that to think such a complex thing could have just randomly mutated takes much more faith to believe then believing God created us.
Knowledge of DNA and the differences between species does not prove how it just randomly mutated to the complexity there in. The facts that many species share similar DNA only leads to evidence that God created us from similar make ups, or as you would say we evolved from similar species. No proof.
that to think such a complex thing could have just randomly mutated takes much more faith to believe then believing God created us.
And you are too fucking stupid to know how that is wrong even though I just explained how you are wrong.
Knowledge of DNA and the differences between species does not prove how it just randomly mutated to the complexity there in.
Yes, it does.
The facts that many species share similar DNA only leads to evidence that God created us from similar make ups, or as you would say we evolved from similar species. No proof.
No, it is direct evidence that the DNA gradually changed over time like evolution says.
No you don't. The overwhelming majority of the times that you say that the person you are responding to has not used any profanity. Hell, you did that to Cartman long before he lost his patience with you and started blatantly insulting you.
You fool. I never insulted the idiot and he started throwing out his profanity. I can handle swearing. I refuse to handle a person who is vicious. I ban you simply because you are a liar and a total waste of time.
You missed my point. The complexity of our DNA is so mind boggling that to think such a complex thing could have just randomly mutated takes much more faith to believe then believing God created us.
Not at all. As complex as our DNA is, I'm sure would be more than happy to admit that God is/would (allowing for both the way your and I would put it) far more complex. That means that you would still need far more faith to believe in either the creation of God, or simply the continued existence of God.
Knowledge of DNA and the differences between species does not prove how it just randomly mutated to the complexity there in. The facts that many species share similar DNA only leads to evidence that God created us from similar make ups, or as you would say we evolved from similar species. No proof.
All you did is demonstrate confirmation bias. One who starts from a position of evolution will see it as evidence of it, and one who starts from a position of theism will see it as evidence of that. Because of this, there is little to no evidence that could be presented to you that would lead you to lend any credibility to evolution, as you would see it all as evidence of divine creation.
I am Agnostic, not Atheist. I am very open to evidence supporting the existence of God. I'd prefer if God existed, so I'd be very open to evidence that proves God exists. If someone provided said evidence, my confirmation bias would change.
I am willing to admit my answers are fallible. It's perhaps a bit bigger than a "slight" difference.
Start admitting you have no proof of how the first cell came to life. When you can come up with evidence proving your ludicrous theories, I will listen.
I never claimed I have empirical evidence of abiogenesis. I readily admit that I still don't have proof of that.
Evolution does not require abiogenesis. In fact, there are many people who believe that evolution is simply the method employed by God. Are you going to call that a "ludicrous theory" as well, or are you going to actually respect their beliefs?
Lastly, a lack of evidence of abiogenesis is not itself evidence of God and divine creation, nor is it proof that there isn't any possible evidence of abiogenesis. Proof of abiogenesis is like proof of God: Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
Don't forget that a lack of evidence for abiogenesis doesn't explain why he has a hard time believing intelligent people see DNA evolving. We must not forget the first bullshit claim he made when he distracts us with the next bullshit claim.
So, you are admitting that you don't care about the complexity of DNA, you care about the complexity of the first cell. This is why you should ban yourself.
Maybe it did happen through evolution...maybe it didn't. How could anyone ACCURATELY know? Are you a god? Did you create us? No. Or maybe yes. That also cannot be accurately answered....Awkward.
Not really. But then again, quantum mechanics don't make any sense to me either, but there are some people claiming to understand the concept, even if I'll never understand it in a million years. So does that mean it's fake?
