Does the lack of tone (in writting) lead to misunderstandings?

I think that the casual way people compose e-mails and other "e" forms of communication like text messages and blogs, can also lead to misunderstandings! When you type like an idiot, I assume you are one!

For example:

- their, there, they're

- RanDOm leTTERs in CapItALizATion

- putting extra letters onto words is soooooooooooo lame

People who don't know you can easily misunderstand your typed words because tone of voice is missing.

Yes, especially when it comes to sarcasm, or puns.

This is very bad for me because i have a sarcastic sense of humour

I can't say how many times I've been misunderstood because my attempt at humor didn't come through in the text. We have to remember that email is different than actual conversation.
