That might be because it did not like you (happy cats generally perch themselves somewhere high/visible, unhappy cats will hide). Cats are fickle, like people. It probably thought you were mistreating it. If you are curious, just watch Jackson Galaxy on Animal Planet. A lot of it is might be staged (like all reality shows), but it is harder to stage stuff with pissed off cats. Basically, a little understanding goes a long way. Side: Dogs

Dogs are way much better, as @20bgorges stated they help you with guarding the house from danger. And they're much more fun than cats. And just to prove that dogs are better than cats checkout this link: http://btgstudios.com/ Side: Dogs

The saying 'Dogs are a man best friend' was not said in vain (and obviously not solely referring to man). However when arguing in such topics we must bear in mind, each to their own. Dogs are renowned for their loyalty and friendliness and that's their top quality which for me makes them the better pet. Not only are they their for you in ways only dog owners will understand but they are also loving and as much as I hate walks, I would be very fat if it wasn't for my energetic dog. Whenever I go through a rough time, I can always rely on my dog. Cats are not the same, although they are fine for cuddles (as long as they don't scratch) they prefer their own company and all you have to do is feed them and let them out. Dogs also play a major role in society as Dogs have many important roles such as blind dogs which have provided an amazing service for over 80 years. Dogs are also used in relation with fire fighting, ww1 messages transportation, life guarding and many more useful jobs. Historical and famous dogs such as Laika (first dog in space) and something more well-known like Scooby Doo have played a major role in our lives. Side: Dogs

dogs are so much better, and you can do more activities with them like play fetch in the river. i think cats are so much more meaner and they tend to ignore you. dogs are always curious and want to folow you everywhere you go. and cats just puke and cough out hairballs everywhere. dogs literally will eat their puke once their done puking. hell, theyll probably eat your cats puke. Dogs are WAY BETTER as they treat as if you are their God. Cats act as if they are your God. Dogs can't wait when you come back home and they get so excited. Cats laze around and only care for you when you are hungry. I only see dogs used as a guide for the blind but I don't see that for cats. Dogs are cuter then cats. Dogs are fun to play with not like cats who don't even chase rats. Side: Dogs

All you have to do is go in a house where a cat has been pissing and you'll become a dog lover. There is nothing worse than trying to get rid of the smell of cat urine. Only the cat lady with 90 cats doesn't mind the smell, remember this when choosing a side. >Only 89 cats away> Side: Dogs

In the US, the total population of cats is higher, but there are more households with dogs than cats. In the world, the total population of cats is higher and the number of households with cats is higher. It is a common misconception in the US that cat owners tend to have many more cats than dog owners have dogs. In the US, 46% of households own cats, and 47% of households own dogs. Many households own both. 1.47 per household to 2.11 per household. Side: Dogs

You should choose the animal that matches your expectations and personality. 1) Dogs require more attention than cats. If you wish to be an inattentive owner, most dog breeds will not match that criteria. 2) If you wish to take your pets out with you (outdoor pet), then most cat breeds will not match that criteria. It is not that there are no outdoor cats, but that cats do not like being told what to do. 3) If you wish to keep your pets indoors, there are far more breeds of indoor cats than indoor dogs. Some even argue that all domesticated cat breeds are/should be indoor cats. 4) They have different habits and rituals. There can be large variations between different breeds as well. Do research. 5) This is a life that you have chosen to put in your hands. There are ~100 million stray/abandoned animals in the US alone. Take some time with the decision to own a pet. Side: Cats

I think that cats are better than dogs because from my perspective of being an owner of 2 cats and once having dogs was a better experience having cats in my life. My 2 cats are amazing and the only reason I say that is because my cats are kind and you might just be meeting a friends cat that does not like strangers, so you might be just judging that the cat does not like you but it all depends on if you know the personality of the cat. When you get a cat they depend on personality and if you torcher the cat making them dislike you. Those are some reasons that I think cats are better than dogs. Side: Cats

I prefer dogs, but cats are pretty cool because a lot of scholars believe they actually domesticated themselves in a sense. Once we settled down and began storing surplus crops, mice came and tried to eat them and then wild cats came in and took care of the pest problem. It just so happens that the cats that were more human-friendly weren't shooed away and, over the years, developed into our house cats of today. Interesting article on it Side: Cats
