In certain circumstances, no, yet in other I normally ask the question: Are you illiterate or inconsiderate? And yes, both the cashier and consumer remain speechless. For the record, I don’t hate it, but I do find it is an opportunity for security to embarrass the violators. Side: yes

This is stupid. It's like starting a debate saying "do you enjoy being kicked in the crotch?" - you know it's going to be completely one sided except for the occasional troll answer. No one learns anything, no one walks away with a new perspective. It's just more wasted time. FIGHT THE POWER! Side: No

often here at my local grocery store, if a cashier person is standing around doing absolutely "nothing" with no 10 or less items customers around... they "offer" to take my basket if they see me searching for an open register, even if I'm trying to avoid them due to the fact that it "is" an express lane...I can't get mad if they wanna make their time at work go by faster by going on ahead and checking me out at their choice and I can sooner be on my way, I just consider that being efficient!
