The dominant or indigenous religion of any nation shouldn't be permitted to encourage the discrimination of other faiths, or as in this case, those of no faith at all.

Christians may consider some of the rituals of the Muslim faith such as their barbaric Sharia law with its female genital mutilation unacceptable but all Muslims are welcomed in the west and provision is made to ensure that they are treated with the same equality and respect as all other citizens.

Anything short of this is a retrograde step back to the fears and religious persecutions of the dark ages.

Martin Niemoller was a Protestant Minister and theologian who was arrested by the Nazis because he publicly expressed his anti-fascist views and his outspoken condemnation of the plight of the German Jewish population.

He later became President of the world council of churches.
