As idiotic as I think your description is, Elvis' music is superior. Strictly voice wise, it's a bit closer, maybe Jackson even has the edge, but Elvis had better music all around I think.

Facts: Jackson's Thriller (1982) remained at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart for thirty-seven weeks, second only to the soundtrack for West Side Story. Thriller spent a record 80 consecutive weeks, more than a year and a half, in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. It was the first of only three albums that have remained in the Top 10 for more than one year (along with Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill and Celine Dion's Falling into You). It is the only album to have sold more copies in the United States than any other in two separate years, topping the sales charts in 1983 and 1984, and selling over 29 million copies to date. Worldwide, its sales total has been estimated at 110 million copies by Jackson's management; "Thriller" is the top-selling album in history

I agree, Elvis was and still remains to this day, to be the only singer, entertainer, to be a member of five different Hall of Fames, namely Country, Rock, Gospel and Blues. The Pop Hall of Fame would be the fifth for him, which, I pretty sure he has just recently been inducted into. The Pop, I'll need to check this first to see if the poll is over.

Elvis a million times better.

Greatest singer that ever live he din't need big flashy production to do a show he could do it alone plus he was able to sing all kind of music that was available when he was alive.

Michael only had one distinctive style i doubt that he looked good if he was singing rock blues coubtry or jazz.

Elvis could do it all whitout even think about it

Micheal version of jailhouse rock or if i can dream woul sound really strange i' ll tell you.

Michael Jackson's voice was a perfect storm of innate talent and training. His singing as a child is astounding: He just nailed "I Want You Back" — there's maybe one bum note on that song, which is crazy to me, because he was only 11 years old.

One of the key elements of his style is how he uses his voice as an instrument. His signature grunts — "ugh," "ah" and all that — are rhythmic things that guitar players or drummers usually do. He's one of the most rhythmic singers ever — Prince emulated James Brown a lot more, but Michael Jackson approximated it more natural. And he has insane range. He sings this incredibly high note — I think it's a high C or even a high C-sharp, which no one can hit — on "Beat It," as well as "Billie Jean" and "Thriller." What people don't realize is that he can go pretty deep too. You hear that on "Burn This Disco Out," on Off the Wall — he goes deep into his range, which blows me away.

When somebody gets as big as he did, you lose sight of how avant-garde and revolutionary they are, but Michael Jackson pushed the boundaries of pop and R&B;. Think about it: On "Beat It," you had an R&B;singer doing a full-on rock song with Eddie Van Halen. Or the intro on "Man in the Mirror": He's got this reverb in his voice, and any time he goes "uh!" it goes for miles. To me, that's up there with some Brian Eno shit. That's how far out there it is.

Michael was known for pop music, funk, disco, soul music, rythm and blues, dance music, and rock! Elvis? He was known for peanut butter and banana sandwhiches. He will never be the king, michael remains the king and i dont think that is changing any time soon. Stop trying to fight a lost argument! Michael has won.

MJ is the greatest! Not because I'm a huge fan but because I simply do. If you listen to him as a kid, singing Who's Loving You or I'll Be There, his voice is just outrageous - how can such a voice come from such a small boy? If you listen to him, and then you listen to others doing the same song, you can appreciate it far better. It just seems to come so naturally to him. When he was a kid, and he was live and you see him singing, his face looks so relaxed. You look at others, even grown adults singing songs half as easy as the ones Mike was singing, their faces are often screwed up as though they are in agony.

Michael's voice went from strength to strength. He was able to adjust it to all the new sounds he created with his music. He could put on a really raw, rough edge to it, and then, be so soft and sweet too. He could reach all the high notes many women can't, and still reach those bottom notes too. His vocal range was outrageous. And then there's the matter of the soul he put into it. Michael's voice can make grown men cry. Every waver gives me butterflies and sends shivers down my spine. He put everything he had into it. It was pure and natural talent that Michael possessed. He didn't need vocal lessons from a really early age to get where he got, it came from inside. But yes, I genuinely believe this man had one of the greatest voices ever. Whitney or Mariah have much richer, more powerful voices, but Michael's is better in different ways. Michael's voice is emotional. It touches your heart. That is what I look for in a voice. Others may well disagree, but even the experts have commented on how fantastic Michael's voice was, so they've got to know something, right?

MJ Forever! His singing and Dancing were mesmerizing across various genres - pop, rock, soul, funk, rnb, hip hop . He was absolutely stunning to watch live on stage, in his music videos and his dancing was amazing. Elivs was good in rock and roll and country music, his dancing wasnt that great, only a couple of signature moves he had.. his songs would feel out of place on a modern dance floor... MJs music is timeless and will be played by all generations...

Well first Elvis is the greatest singer of all time. Not only do I say this but opera singers, and other rock singers have said the same countless times( Rod Stewart,Mick Jagger,Joe cocker, Jim Morrison, Ian Gilliam. They have even had vocal instructors of today say that his ability to change his range and the beauty and quality of his voice are unreal. And he has not sang a song in almost 40 years! I have never heard anyone say Micheal Jackson is the greatest singer. Or at least no one with any knowledge. When i see Micheal Jackson I just see a guy who dances and squalls. I know that all the people around now what Micheal Jackson to be better because the saw him and he is theirs, but really it is a stupid and ridiculous hope. Could anyone really being honest hear Elvis sing anything and not know without any reservation at all he is far and away a better singer. Please watch this clip i have added from 1:25 till 2:05 and please tell me ol Mike can do that. Jackson invented a new style of singing that is full of energy and stimulating to the audiences. The types of his songs deviated from the typical mushy mushy style that crooners had stuck to for years before him. His style of singing also generated new movements in dancing. It is easy to imitate Elvis' style of singing but quite challenging to do so with Jackson's

I'd vote any day for Jackson.

Elvis gave the president advice at the time? and He sang Everything! He bought houses and gave them to people,he helped his community! Jackson all as he did was (in dancing),grabbed his crotch and went ouuuuuuuuuu! thats what I call dancing? Jackson got his ideas from elvis examples:elvis had a costume/uniform so did jackson,Elvis had a dance with his leg jackson did with his crotch and feet, etc? Elvis already did what jackson did! Elvis had 3x more people at his concerts try 20,000 people , jackson was a twinkle in elvis's eye and thats all he will ever be! All jackson had was talent, thats all! Elvis' style is passe.. nobody in the rest of the world even remember him and even if they do, they remember him more for his looks rather than his shivering voice singing. And he lived in an age when there was not so much television coverage and international audiences. And Elvis got his leg twist style from Forest Gump; Elvis lived at a time when the art of entrapment was not as fully developed as was used against Jackson. Elvis' dances and costumes were more effeminate / pansy /transsexual like. And he was never a born singer, had to use a lot of strategies to foist his singing.

In complete contrast, Jackson was a born singer and dancer, lived singing and died singing. He produced brilliant video songs. He totally destroyed his health and life over the music that he gave to the entire world, not just Memphis. He came up against all odds - being a black, with a father who was known to be a terror to him, and even won ( though a pyrrhic ) victory against people who just wanted to squeeze out the money from him.

Jackson is the King of Pop, Think about it !

You can say what you want about Micheal's personal life but their is no denying that when it come to music he was the best that ever did it.

Elvis was a great artist but Micheal is even greater. Micheal was like Elvis, James Brown and The Beattles rolled into one person.

Micheal Jackson did it all ( He created the moonwalk, all dancers rate him as the best), singing( biggest selling album ever)and created groundbreaking videos(thriller the video the made mtv and set the standard for music videos to follow) .Elvis was good but he never did the things micheal did and elvis did not have the worldwide appeal Micheal did.

They say Elvis sold a billion records but if you did the math the numbers don't add up look for yourself, im not hating on elvis cause he was great ,im just stating the facts, even if he did micheal still sold more copies per album on average. Elvis made 90 albums. Micheal made 10 and sold 750 million to date.

If you to divide the amount of units sold per album micheal sold way more and had more singles than elvis did.

Elvis= 90 albums divide by 1 billion units = 11 + million copies per album.

Micheal= 10 albums divide by 750 million units= 75 million copies per album.

Micheal wrote His own music Elvis had wirters.

Micheal united races something Elvis never did. talent should be all that matters when it comes to their music and not their personal lives.

Micheal is the worlds greatest entertainer.Hands down.

Hound dog from mama thorton I think her name is. A black blues singer sung heartbreak hotel before Elvis. The Beatles hit in the 60's true innovators of music and what was Elvis doing in the 60's? Starring in b grade movies. He became huge after his death. Michael Jackson was not huge in America but was huge in Europe and other countries before he died. His 50 concerts in London sold out in 6 hours. Elvis did not have the whole package like Michael did. Did he ever write his own music? No! He could not dance except to wiggle his hips a little and he could not act worth a crap.

Elvis didn't invent a new "style"??? How many people sang like Elvis BEFORE Elvis. Granted he is not credited to creating rock n' roll, or even rockabilly for that matter, but his vocal tones were very unique. In terms of dancing, they didn't call him "Elvis The Pelvis" because he stood still on stage. Dont confuse the word "style" with "genre"...

Have you ever even listened to Michael Jackson's song's? MJ sang Funk/Disco, Pop, Rock, Gospel, R&B;, etc... And Michael Jackson had more fans. He was more worldwide, while Elvis was more popular in the U.S. Michael Jackson is FAMOUS for helping and giving so much to child in need. He gave so much to charities when he was alive and in his will, he even left a large portion of his money to charity. Michael Jackson had a message in all of his songs. He wanted the world to be a better place. He wanted to help suffering child. Michael Jackson never hurt any children. Don't you think it's odd that both the families that accused Michael of molesting their kids, didn't go to the police first? The first family tried extorting money from Michael before they ever went to the police. Michael refused to give him money, and the father was even caught on tape saying that he shouldn't have stop answering his phone calls and now he's going to get back at him. And the second family went to the lawyer of the first accuser before they ever went to the police. They also tried extorting money from George Lopez and Jay Leno. And Michael was found innocent in court.

First of all, Michael Jackson transformed POP music into what it would later become known as-- "popular music"-- by cutting and cross-cutting element after element after element of different styles, not confining himself to one particular genre.

Man in The Mirror can go up against ANY Christian song and give it stiff competition, because it harps on that which God has told us to do time and again...help EACH OTHER. The gospel elements in songs like that, Earth Song, and Will You Be There, technically outstrip any of Elvis' rather weak additions to the religious music genre. Michael Jackson has sung jazz songs (Theme from Lady Sings the Blues, With a Child's Heart, and Happy), hard driving soul ballads (Who's Loving You) disco, (Dancing Machine, half the Off the Wall album) heavy metal rock songs to critical acclaim (Dirty Diana, Morphine), pop rock to critical acclaim (Beat It), modern R&B;(Billie Jean, Remember the Time, Break of Dawn...countless others), classic R&B;(Rock With You, The Lady In My Life, countless others), ballads (She's Out of My Life, Stranger In Moscow, Human Nature, You Are Not Alone), neo-soul (Butterflies), hard core pop (Smooth Criminal, Bad, Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'), even Spanish language versions of his own classics like I Just Can't Stop Loving You...and the genre bending songs like Whatever Happens, Black or White, Thriller, Scream, and They Don't Care About Us make fools out of anyone who dares try to classify them.

I like Elvis. A lot. I have a lot of respect for him as a performer--his artistic merit leaves much to be desired. But he made hell of a bunch of entertaining songs. His albums lacked the quality of Jackson's, but even the Beatles couldn't manage more than one #1 track per album. Jackson's Off the Wall (LP) did this with relative ease. Some of Presley's tracks make me just break out into song. Elvis had more range than people give him credit for on here, but he is still light years away from spewing out the quality vocals Michael Jackson delivers on his cover of Come Together (1986), which defied all previously-known vocal signatures he had. Presley's voice is not nearly as flexible, and even in breakaway songs like A Little Less Conversation, he sounds like ELVIS. I've played people Michael Jackson songs that they vehemently denied belonged to him. Michael Jackson could disappear in a song (if not entirely, then at least for a couple of bars--like in Fall Again or 2000 Watts)...Elvis never had such a talent. Closest thing he comes is Jailhouse Rock, a classic.

By the 70's, Elvis' voice no longer stood out among his peers (like is evident in songs like In The Ghetto--anybody could have sung that the way he did). Jackson's vocal style has been imitated (and has helped CARRY songs) by Justin Timberlake, Usher, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Bruno Mars, Fall Out Boy, and Alien Ant Farm. And nobody, no matter how hard they try, can get it right. Some, admittedly, aren't trying. Others are trying as hard as they can. Regardless, his voice remains UNIQUE, and not because people aren't putting in the effort.

Jackson's voice has scores of imitators, to be honest. Nearly every popular singer that has emerged since the 80's will cop to being influenced by his style. And almost all of the MEGA-STARS. If anyone tried to sing like Elvis Presley TODAY...their career would be over before it started. Meanwhile, look at next generation artists like Bruno Mars and Janelle Monae. They've already got Grammy nods, if not awards, and sold millions.

And By the way, how could you not know that Michael Jackson sang nearly every kind of popular music there was? Even songs like Remember the Time and They Don't Care About Us had tinges of reggae in them...lol 'cause Mike was that n-word! Hate to be slightly vulgar there for a second, but where've you been?? Anyway...Michael Jackson wins a singing contest with Elvis any day of the week. And dancing...well, I'm just glad you didn't try to make that argument.

Yes, Elvis had his "signature moves" but Michael Jackson was an amazing dancer. He was perfection... Also Elvis never wrote any of his songs, not one! His 50 concerts in London sold out in 6 hours. Elvis did not have the whole package like Michael did. Did he ever write his own music? No! He could not dance except to wiggle his hips a little and he could not act worth a crap.

Jackson's vocal range is a lot bigger... So he can sing really low and high notes.. He wrote 211 songs (confirmed by BMI) while Elvis wrote only 2, he didn't had that talent... Also Michael has 442 awards while Elvis won just 6... Awards like "Artist of the Millenium", "Most popular name in the history of the modern music", "Outstanding Humanitarian Award" ,"Best international male artist" and won GUINNESS award for "The most successful entertainer of all-time" belong to Michael ... I love Elvis though, but Jackson wins

Elvis has won over 400 awards . Get your facts straight . Both were named artist and entertainer of the century . In mj declining years he insisted on awards or he wouldn't show up. ( MTV book ) elvis has every big award too . Elvis is the only artist to be inducted into all 4 hall of fames. Billboard elvis has far more number ones in the us or globally . Guiness 2012 " elvis is the biggest selling artist in history " bottom line if mj had the range he would have hits in other genres like elvis

Side: ELVIS!!!!!!

Michael Jackson was the KING and he still is and always will be the KING. Elvis will never compare. MJ was a musical genius and nobody, not now not ever, can compete with him.

Jackson's Thriller (1982) remained at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart for thirty-seven weeks, second only to the soundtrack for West Side Story. Worldwide, its sales total has been estimated at 110 million copies by Jackson's management; "Thriller" is the top-selling album in history.

Michael Jackson was also a lot more creative and artistic then Elvis was. Elvis was a great musician, but his creativity could never match that of Michael Jackson's. Jackson was also a great man. Jackson gave away a lot of money to charities and was highly respected by music greats like Sir Paul Mccartney and Eddie Van Halen. Another thing is that Jackson had a much wider variety of music styles from songs like P.Y.T to songs like Dirty Diana and Beat it.

When you pin two great musicians against each other it is tough to make a decision but in the end Michael Jackson was the better of the two. It's sad that both artist's had to die so young but their music still will live on forever.

MICHAEL JACKSON. He was not just the greatest entertainer but he was also the very first and true artist that busted racial barriers.

More and more people now are coming to terms to the fact that Elvis was all about copying black music and things passed on for years about him were a MYTH. For example, that 1 billion sales claim has been believed by the mindless public but it was clearly a propaganda made 5 years after Elvis' death (in 1982, published in Washington Post where the manager of his catalogue was quoted as making the claim) but had no explanation nor facts behind it. And this rolled trough the years and the mindless public believed. Also, that claim of 2.5 billion viewers of Aloha from Hawaii satellite telecast was another bogus propaganda. It claims that 60% of the people in the Philippines watched it, but a good of friend of mine from there has facts to back up that during the 70's there was no way to find out the TV ratings back then.

Michael Jackson is the greatest entertainer of all time - far none.

MJ. Music videos would not be used as a promotional tool without him. MTV would've died a long time ago. BET would've died. There wouldn't even continue to be a Super Bowl halftime show without him. Best-selling album of all time, Thiller, and most iconic music video FOREVER. Moonwalk is the most iconic dance move of the past 30 years. Maybe even ever. White glove. White socks/blak shoes. Most iconic artist in this lifetime.

I really don't understand how anyone can call Elvis Presley a genius. He was a good singer and a good entertainer but genius? I don't think so, because to me you have to write and compose your own songs to be called a genius and Elvis never did that.

The people who wrote and composed those songs for Elvis. They were the real geniuses

Side: jackson

1 Michael obviously had better dance skills and overall was a better entertainer

2 MJ albums averagely sold far better than Elvis's considering Michael had far less albums

3 Michael Jackson wrote many of his own songs, unlike Elvis who wasn't really known for his songwriting skills

4 Jackson revolutionised music videos after making of Thriller, and broke many racial barriers being the first black artist featured on MTV

5 Michael Jackson was awarded Artist of the Century Award by AMA

Elvis presley is a thing of the past while MJ's influence can be seen everywhere and in today's pop scene which makes him relevant and alive. Michael Jackson rocked the whole world. Michael Jacskon INNOVATED and elvis IMMITATED!

Okay this it tough because I happen to be an Elvis Presley fan too...there are many differences between the two Kings. Elvis very rich generous kind know to give free Cadillacs to strangers etc. he did not go the humanitarian route, Michael did. Michael was the first celebrity to bring massive attention to the hungry globally. Michael appeals to age groups from 2 yrs. old to 80 years old, Elvis only age groups maybe 30 years old to 80 years old. Elvis didn't hit his mark until he was in his early twenties, Michael started singing and dancing by the time he was 5 or 6 years old hit the mark at age 10. Elvis Presley was more of a singer he moved his hips unbelievably, but he was no dancer. MICHAEL JACKSON WAS A SINGER AND A DANCER AND ENTERTAINER, also dabbled in a few movies, looks to me like MICHAEL could have been actor, director too if he wanted to be. Elvis was no actor, but he sing good in those musicals girls screaming movies. I believe correct me if I am wrong, but is the song Rockin Robin kind of rock in roll? Elvis did write some of his songs Love me Tender one of my personal favorites, here comes MICHAEL JACKSON wrote at least more than 60 songs, and i believe there are some few he did not write like Man in the Mirror. Elvis famous in the United States and Europe mainly, MICHAEL JACKSON famous GLOBALLY all over the world from U.S to RUSSIA all the way to SPAIN & AFRICA.. Elvis Presley's untimely passing really hurt I was in high school at the time, but the pain went away after about 3 months. MICHAEL JACKSON passing away more far worse still grieving terribly, the difference MICHAEL JACKSON was able to connect with his fans and the world like no other artist, when he went I felt like I lost a relative, didn't feel that with Elvis's passing..well if I keep going this will be way to long. I LOVE YOU ELVIS, BUT DON'T BE MAD PLEASE! MICHAEL JACKSON IS THE KING THE TRUE KING, MICHAEL JACKSON IS THE KING OF MUSIC!

Are you kidding me? You guys are acting like toddlers!! Micheal is and will always be better. His career started when he was just a young child with Jackson 5! He had one of the most common known hits in history when he was just 8 or 9! ABC!!!! After got to be there and ben, he struck at us with Off the Wall. After he changed the world of music with that, he hit us with Thriller that made the world moonwalk. Later, he made the "bad" album with smooth criminal, man in the mirror, the way you make me feel, and bad. That album made his existence WELL known and had the world singing and dancing to all his amazing songs. Lastly, he finished off his long-lasting legacy with dangerous with Black or white, heal the world, and remember the time. By that point, Michael Jackson had completely filled the earth with his music and he was blowing up at an incredible rate. He was famous his whole life, and his death was tragic. His talent was supreme and will always live on. Therefore, elvis will never compare, his music started later and was nowhere near as good as Michael's. So shut up.

To be honest how can you compare these 2 singers when they are two completely different singers, Michael Jackson was the King Of Pop and Elvis is the King of Rock but in my opinion I would say Michael Jackson because of the fact Michael Jackson wrote 85% of his own songs and Elvis did not right any, I think Michael had a much better singing voice and can hit high pitches that not even Elvis can hit as he was a low octave singer... They were both amazing singers in their own style.... Michael was a much better dancer than Elvis, Elvis could dance but sometimes it looked like Elvis was having a seizure whilst dancing and Elvis was better with instruments than Michael was but Michael did most of his instrumentals by beat boxing.... In my opinion i will have to say Michael Jackson was the better artist because of creativity and was willing to write most of his own songs unlike Elvis getting other people to write them for him....
