Emergency Operators - Fiction, though fact.
Here is a quick situation that I came up with concerning 9-1-1 operators in America:
(911 Operator: "9-11, state your emergency"
Person X: "Yes, listen to me, my brother is not moving, he's not responding, and I feel a slight pulse…"
911 Operator: "Sir?…sir…"
Person X: "…Please, I'm at 2-4-1, West Lime St., That is 2-4-1 West Lime St. Please, fucking hurry!…Ohhh, God please!"
911 Operator: "Sir"…Sir", what's your name? What's your name, Sir?"
Person X: "Oh shiiit…. fuck! What!? My name? Jim…err, Jimmy, what the fuck does….shit! fucking hurry, please, please, oh…..!"
(Ruffled sounds and screaming)
911 Operator: "Sir"…Jim, now, where do you live? Mk, where do you live and we'll send someone to yo---."
Person X: "FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU!!!! fucking 2-4-1 West Lime St! Fucking help! Help! Ahh, Oh God!! Oh God, He's not breathing. Uh, there is no pulse. FUCK! (crying), fuck!, fuck!"
911 Operator: "Sir!…Sir? Is that 2-1-4 Feck Avenue, say again, Sir?"
(Ruffled sounds and screaming, then the phone cuts out, dial tone……)
911 Operator: "Sir?…say again…..Sir?…Please state your emergency…"

Think about it. How sufficiently 9-1-1 emergencies can be if the Operators don't ask stupid questions and act effectively as possible as humans are potentially capable of doing? I'm all ears.

People need to get their stuff together. The police don't know how stressing the situation on the line is. They can't act as if every call is dying kid, because when a dying kid really is the case their may be no one on call to get it. What they should though, and I agree with you, is cut out the middleman. Get an address, the situation at hand in a few words, and get on the move. They can learn your name, what school you graduated from, and your favorite food later. |
