Everyone Should Have At Least One Week of Holiday Anually?

I was talking to someone from Latvia, and they said they had at least one week's holiday guarnateed by the Soviet government. Is ensuring ever citizen has holiday time a good idea?

After a hard year's work, people need some time off. Quality of life improves because of this. It is something people can look foreword to, and it gives them valuable time with their families. Furthermore, studies indicate that holidays make people more productive. Now, people cannot afford holidays, even if they work multiple jobs.

At least one week of holiday should be granted to employees annually. This should increase productivity as well as morale of workers. Without time off, workers will become complacent, with nothing to look forward. A great mix of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation is necessary for maximum productivity in employees, and vacation time is an amazing extrinsic motivator.

I disagree with this statement. I think it is enough to have only a few days for break off. Sometimes people may have vacation for month but feeling of relaxion zero. The first reason that i disagree with the statement is that, it is not convinient for employee.The week vacation release reproductivity of the work. I suggest to give a few a days but every months.I thinks it`s better for employee and employer. For example for Kazakhstani workers there is no need to have a week holiday because there are so many holidays during the year. It`s for about one half month if we collect the dates of the holidays. The second reason time and money that spend for week holiday.Legally the company must pay for it and it`s not beneficial for them. The third reason is now we are living in democratic country.I think there is no need to repeat the Soveit Unions mistakes. I mean when Soviet Union paid for each worker for holiday flight, food etc.. Finally, there became huge economic gap which let Soviet Union to collepse. It`s not benefical for state. I think it will be easier make the same beaches and entertainment near the working office or area, to economize time and money.

While this may be true, those people should be dealt with by management (or other higher-ups if the person in question is, in fact, management). Any employee should be allowed one week of annual holiday. If they are not performing up to company expectations (i.e. they are taking holidays during work, as you say), then they should be removed from the company.
