It really depends on your socio-economic background. And also how young you are. If you belong to a backward economy, your work ceases the educational opportunity. Which is the case in a lot of third World countries and also some developing areas. It is the case sometimes that the family pressurizes the children to work. In fields so ridiculous.. You cannot imagine. Only so that the monthly income faces a raise. Child labor is forbidden in India. Only because it is mis-used. If your too young and your earning.. It is a sign of imbalance in the ways of a family care which is a psychologically proven fact. Even if there is a certain amount of income to a kid.. The family ought to be aware of the environment, it's kind and the income. Though it's encouragement in a

Well-to-do-family is common and an appreciated aspect it is a factor that cant be risked to be ignored.

... they do.

It's called "school."

It's unfortunate that some children even today, with all of our wealth, are forced to work for next to nothing so they can buy lunch at school or won't be embarassed about wearing generic shoes or whatever,

but the day we require all children to work when they should be learning will be the end of our dominance in the realm of education.

Which is the only category we still lead the world in minus the size of our military and GDP.

If a child is bored, idealy they would join a club or a sport.

There is nothing inherently positive about the sorts of jobs children work part time outside of a continuation of a system whereby those with the least have the most difficulty getting ahead as their counterparts are free to learn and grow both socially and academically.

If the goal is a permanent lower class like that of the dark ages with slavery and serfs,

then yeah, this is a great idea large corporations.

However if one believes in the ideas this country is founded on, they should be irrate with the recent attempts to roll-back child labor laws in some states.
