Easy to find people (they use their given names not some made up stuff, well, most people do) Easy to organize events, attract the public to a certain product or idea or view. Easy way for students to collaborate together, other options include texting, email or get togethers which are sometimes hard to manage with a hectic schedule. Easy way to keep in touch with friends from school that you otherwise would never had been able to. And if you don't want to contact friends from highschool, then you don't have to, for those that argue they could care less about those people. Side: Pros

Especially students preparing for exams? Now that is a very specific comment right there. I take it you have had problems with a child/friend wasting their time on facebook when exams were taking place? Because I am positive exams don't run 24/7 365 days a year of a students life. Also, there are MANY other websites out there that can waste your time. When you think about it, it is not the website itself that is wasting your time, it is YOU that is wasting your own time. If you cannot control how much time you spend online, it is not the websites fault. Side: Pros
If you have your security settings up and do not add any 'apps' you should be fine. Don't post your email, your home address or your phone number. If a friend wants any of that information you should message it to them. Other cons might be that it is easy to target people for bullying purposes. But once again, if someone is bullying you odds are they are not your friends, and you can simply block them by fixing your privacy settings. I don't really see many cons with Facebook. Side: Cons
