facebook is a medium for communication. you can also be addicted to visiting friends, talking on the phone, emailing and morse code. on a fundamental level i think everyone is addicted to communication and therefor facebook. but unless that in someway turns harmful, or becomes more harmful with facebook than without it. seeing as that doesn't seem to be the case, facebook is great and we should all be addicted to it, and while i don't really understand the need for using several networking websites at once, the more the better!

I believe Facebook is an addiction. From my experience a person can't have a conversation with someone anymore without them looking down at their phone talking to someone else on Facebook or halting the conversation to show you photo on Facebook. My argument is based off of personal observations and I am sure many others have made those same observations. I disagree with your interpretation of the ramifications because I believe it is harmful, perhaps the effect it has on older people (30+) is different but I think it is detrimental to personal relationships because people talk less and therefor are less intimate. When you are confiding in a person it has a bonding effect but, for me at least, things that are said to one another in text becomes meaningless.

Bottom line with all software - Yes

If it looks like an addiction, behaves like an addiction, thinks like an addiction then it is an addiction.

Sakujo, shimasu, sakujo, sakujo, sakujo...

Death Note is fun to talk about on FB, and so are M-rated shooters, girls, drugs, sex, violence, rape, marijuana, legality issues, disabilities, and insults...

We as humans... are always fucking doing this IN AMERICA!!!

Everyone... we all need to leave America.

The only addiction I have with Facebook is how to get rid of the irritant. I used it 2 or three times about 4 years ago and since then I've been pestered with a torrent of emails such as;- ''you have three messages and 2 pokes''. 'Do you know big Sadie''? I always mark their unsolicited junk to spam but this monumental technological task seems to be beyond British Telecom.
