Freedom to choose a school prayer, BAD! Gay awareness in schools, GOOD! UNBELIEVABLE!

So lets show the total hypocritical double standard of anti religious expression proponents, otherwise known as BIGOTS!

So here is their logic, and of course they always lie to scare you. They say if you allow a community of people to choose for themselves if they want the freedom to say a simple prayer or not, (OH NO!), this is what they say will happen. Little Johnny will be forced to pray along(complete lie) and the big bad Government is forcing that community to have a prayer forced on the kids.
Have you ever noticed how the big bad government is only bad when it is supposedly supporting religion, but for most other things, the bigger the Government the better.

Why is it when it comes to abnormal sexual orientations, it is perfecty ok for Government to force little Johnny to listen to Gay awareness speakers pushing their beliefs of sexuaity onto our most vulnerable impressionable kids.

So lets get this straight...... our new age transformed Government now has the authority to go against the Constitution(where it states that our freedom of religious expression shall not be infringed upon), but instead will force it's new political correct love affair with abnormal sexual orientations onto our children in school.

If people from 50 years ago actually were told what would be going on in this nation, they never would have believed it. But the people of today have been so conditioned for decades to fear Christians, and to embrace anything at odds with Christianity, this is what we have come to.
To lift up any abnormal thing to our children as being normal, does what to our kids? It confuses them, it makes them wonder who they are if they should have some sexual thought. It makes them wonder if they are a boy or girl, etc. etc. It is the worst thing we could be doing to our children, giving them all these insecurities. How about letting them grow up being kids, and leave the heavy stuff for when they are old enough to understand it better.
What does a simple prayer do to kids? Well lets see..... most prayers speak of love, forgiveness, compassion and caring for others, for the helpless, etc. So tell me, does a prayer instill confusion or insecurites in kids?

The next thing the Left always does if anyone mentions the freedom to choose a school prayer, is to ask whose prayer! They ask would you want your child hearing an Islamic prayer? This is the scare tactics they must do to continue censoring the communities.

First off, if I lived in Isreal, I would expect a Jewish prayer in schools and would not be offended by it. If I lived in a Muslim nation, I would expect an Islamic prayer in schools and would not be offended by it. This is America where our Heritage is Christian and I would expect a Christian prayer if the school chose to have a prayer. If I did not want my chid hearing a prayer, I believe in school choice and would send them to the school that was more in line with what I wanted. Democrats are against school choice, go figure. They are the very ones who want to funnel our children into failed public schools with no choice to pick from.

I raised my children as Christians, and if they heard a Muslim prayer I would teach them how other's faiths differed with our own, but would teach them to have respect for other's beliefs and not to CLOSE THEIR EARS, OR BURY THEIR HEADS, should they ever hear another's prayer. Do you see the closed minded intolerance the Left has for diverse thought if it includes a prayer? CLOSE THEIR EARS SAYS THE LEFT, CENSOR THAT PRAYER NO MATTER IF  A COMMUNITY WANTS ONE! Big controlling government at it's worse!

Actual liberal position:

Allow students to do their own prayers when class is not in session. Make sure gays aren't treated horribly by bad students. What part of that makes no sense to you?

Choosing a school prayer makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. There is not a single belief in this country that is decided by vote. Everyone is entitled to choosing their belief system. Why would this country ever want to choose beliefs by committee? There is no benefit.

Stop lying about how you view Islam. God hates liars.

Are you serious? Everything we do in this ntion is decided by committee, by a vote, etc.

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE A SOCIETY WHERE NO ONE IS OFFENDED. To have such a society would mean no one could do or say anything for fear of offending someone. Quit saying such complete nonsense and quit being a bigot against religious expression!

We are nation built on democracy and the people's vote.

I am serious. Name one thing you believe that I can vote to change. It should be easy if it is everything.

I made no mention of things being offensive. Strawman argument.

I actually said that religious expression is allowed. You are now lying about my argument.

The people vote on laws not what beliefs you have.

Sir, I go to a public school... Every morning before classes the religious students (and teachers) gather around the flag pole and pray. Christians, Muslims, etc. They all do it. But gays are hated in my school by most students and some teachers. I know two gay students in my school and are constantly bullied for their sexual orientation.

You need to research your debates better... Just a tip.

Here's a tip for all the Political correct brainwashed young people who for their entire lives have been constantly conditioned to dwell on the Gay movement instead of dwelling on all groups of people. It's all you know because that is all they want you to know.

The idiot bullies in school have been bullying people since time began and guess what? They just don't bully Gays! They bully fat people, skinny people, nerds, smart people, you name it, but what do brainwashed people constantly talk about? GAYS, GAYS, GAYS, THE PLIGHT OF GAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gays deserve to never be bullied just as nerds and fat kids deserve to never be bullied. Gays deserve no special mention in our schools any more than other groups of bullied kids. Schools should be addressing bullying aganst ALL KIDS, not just the political correct kids. There should be no Gay awareness days in schools. There should be bullied awareness days in school WITHOUT any special group getting special mention when parents do not want abnormal sexual orientations talked about to our kids with out our being involved. We will teach our kids what we believe, NOT WHAT LIBERAL BIGOTS WANT TO TEACH OUR CHILDREN! You so fear children hearing a simple prayer of love, but you want to be able to indoctrinate all kids to your political correctness. TOTAL MINDLESS HYPOCRITES!

WAKE UP to the indoctrination going on in this nation! It is an all out attack on our Christian heritage and traditional moral foundations in this nation. It is an all out attempt to lift up any political correct group at odds with the Christian faith. It's not difficult to see and understand why Gays get all the mention.

It's just like the race bating "Black lives matter". IT SHOULD BE ALL LIVES MATTER!

2 points

This is easy for you to preach as a straight, white, Christian man with money. And of course all lives matter. And of course all groups of people deserve assistance, including homosexuals, blacks, whites, christians, atheists-- everyone.

I think Bernie Sanders had a very good response to this in the recent democratic debate. I embedded the video.

You are essentially saying that it is wrong to support one group because other groups matter. But that would imply that we are already at a place of equality. And if you think that is the case, well, then you have much less awareness than you claim your opponents do.

.

We are not trying to get special mention of anything into schools except for factual information. Homosexuality hurts no one, and we have a scientific understanding of what it is and how to be aware of it. By presenting that in schools, we can make sure that our children are educated. We can (and should) of course also present factual information about Christianity and it's history, just as we should with other major religions that have impact on our students. But that's not the same thing as engaging in religious practices in the school day.

No one is suggesting that kids have required homosexual experiences in gym class. They simply want students to be educated in an unbiased way based on the information we know. I support the same for Christianity. So why do you advocate for students engaging in the religion?

I feel that religion has no place in an institution of academic education. There is plenty of time for attending to the hocus pocus of the various religions outside school hours. In a multi-denominational school some friction/disruption could be caused by the programming, frequency and duration of the different religions. Let the faithful exalt their gods at home or at their place of worship and concentrate on learning the subjects which will have a real bearing on their success in lives.

As far as I know, The United States is a SECULAR STATE. If you're asking why don't allow religious expression in public schools, that's why. Neutral in matters of religion.

And now that BY LAW, you have gay marriage legal and the LGBT rights as they should be, children shouldn't be taught that two grown up people of the same sex being together is a wrong thing.

Stop worring to much about the children's thoughs. I am so grateful I grew up in a country where we were given a good and fair sexual education.

Whatever they question their sexuality, that's another thing. And it's completely NORMAL when you are a teenager. Jeez, if even some old people still don't have it clear.

It was American heritage to have slavery. You wouldn't go back to having slavery, would you? Same principle for religion. Religion should go with the time and the moral decision made by the people, not from an ancient book where, at the time, it was okay to stone someone to death for apostasy.

As far as you know is not very far. Our nation was founded on our Christian heritage and allows the freedoms to believe or not to believe anything you want. It gave us the freedoms to choose a prayer in schools or choose no prayer. Not to hard to understand unless you are from the bigoted left trying to censor any mention of our christian heritage from our public.

Did you know tht most schools had school prayers AFTER the constitution was written? It was NEVER ment to censor prayers from our schools. They had enough sense to know a simple prayer of love was good thing.

You can't even see how brainwashed you have become by our liberal bigoted media.

THINK just once in your life and tell me why my children in public school must be forced to listen to Gay propagnda while your kids do not have to listen to a prayer. Prayers like we hear at football games, in our Congress every morning, etc. (how terrible)

The double standard from the Left is truly sickening.

PUBLIC SCHOOL -- it's organized by SECULAR STATE -- Neutral in matters of religion. They won't teach religion nor irreligion.

SCHOOL IN GENERAL -- it's following the LAWS -- Gay marriage is legal, not wrong, etc.

It's not that hard to get.

Private schools which receive no public funding may select a school prayer. Public schools which receive public funding may not because doing so violates the establishment clause of the federal Constitution. This does not mean that students and employees may not pray independently but that schools as institutions cannot preference one religion over another.

Awareness of other identities and mutual respect and tolerance do not seem particularly objectionable from any basis, except perhaps the religious basis which has no legal place in public educational institutions anyways.

Do you realize the bigoted intolerance you and other's on the Left have for our most basic of religious freedoms? In your ludicrous twisting of our Constitution, you have deemed that the people's freedoms to choose how they run their schools will be dictated by a big centralized Government.

Do you have any clue to the extent the Left has twisted the Constitution's original intent?

Your closed minded intolerance to a community's freedoms to choosing a school prayer(not forcing school prayers) is very scary. There are many school districts in communities that differ greatly in operations. One school could choose to have a prayer, the next one would not. It's called freedom, and people should have the freedom of school choice if a simple prayer of love and safety for the kids so offends you.

You and most others on this site never address the simple facts of history which proves our Constitution never intended to censor the people's freedoms to have school prayers. Our public schools have had school prayers for centuries and the Constitution never prevented it.

No one ever addresses how our Congress in our Government buildings start each session with a prayer! How is that possible with your twisted definition of our constitution?

Do you have any clue to the extent the Left has twisted the Constitution's original intent?

Separation of church and state is not a recent invention of "the Left", but dates back to the founding era as documented in writings by numerous Founding Fathers.

Your closed minded intolerance to a community's freedoms to choosing a school prayer(not forcing school prayers) is very scary.

The freedom of the community ends where it begins to violate the Constitutional freedoms of the individual. When a majority chooses a school prayer it is using public funds to force other people to listen to and even participate in the prayer even if those people do not agree with the text of the prayer or the religion. I have no issue with people praying as individuals in any setting, including schools, but that is not the same thing as instituting a school prayer.

It's called freedom, and people should have the freedom of school choice if a simple prayer of love and safety for the kids so offends you.

A prayer is not just a wish of love and safety, because it is also inherently an expression of religious faith. It is not that I am offended by the prayer, but that I object to my tax contributions being used by others to proselytize their faith to me in the guise of benevolence.

You and most others on this site never address the simple facts of history which proves our Constitution never intended to censor the people's freedoms to have school prayers. Our public schools have had school prayers for centuries and the Constitution never prevented it.

I have addressed this before, as have numerous others. There is no singular "original intent" because the Founding Fathers were just as politically and philosophically divergent as we are today; there were some who endorsed strict separation of church and state and who understood the establishment clause as many do today, and there were doubtless some who also shared your current interpretation.

Even if there were such a thing as "original intent" there is no reason we should never depart from it. If we refused to do so then we would still have slavery, women could not vote, non-land owning people could not vote, and etc. The notion that we should stagnate as a political society to preserve an imaginary original intent is, to be blunt, stupid.

No one ever addresses how our Congress in our Government buildings start each session with a prayer! How is that possible with your twisted definition of our constitution?

No one mentions it because we are not discussing it. Since you have brought it up, however, let me state quite clearly that I object to that practice too.

America is not a Christian nation. Even though a majority of the country's citizens are Christian, one of the key values/points of this country is that there is no national religion. These comparisons make no sense.

You say the same mindless thing over and over, and the insane part is that you think by saying something enough times, it will make it right.

WE ARE a nation built on our Juedeo Christian heritage. Our faith is a part of our Constitution as it is in our laws. The bigots on the Left want to twist our history, twist our constitution because they hate our religious heritage.

Our's is a nation built on religious freedom to believe nything or believe nothing. Though we are not a theocracy, we are a nation built on the fundamentals of our Christian heritage. As that foundation is being censored, we are seeing the results in our broken famlilies, our divorce rates, our swollen wefare roles. It is self evident to anyone with an open mind who will simply admit the obvious.

Despite the religion of the founders and a great number of people in this country, and despite what you would like to be true, America is a secular nation. Not a Christian one. The Constitution does not make the nation a Christian one, and the first amendment clearly implies a separation of church and state.

Unlike what bible thumpers wanna claim - this country was not founded on christianity. Most founding fathers were agnostic. Special effort was put into the constitution to prevent religion having influence in government ( which would include school)
