Genetic Modifcation in Humans.

Do you think it would be OK if you, or your child could be in the future, genetically modified (not like superman or some super hero) to be smarter, stronger and more... perfect, would you do it. Or do you think that for religious or class (some poor country feel bad they don't have it and hate others who do have it) or do you think it will cause the people who are to look down on the people who aren't.

Given increases in biomedical technology, we are constantly using artificial technologies to extend our lifespan and modify our genetic and anatomical structure. I have never heard of any sufficiently convincing reasons not to use the benefits of genetic engineering. If it can help eliminate heritable diseases and defects before birth, and perhaps even increase those attributes we would consider conducive to good health, I can see no rational reason to oppose it. The only opposing reasons that have been provided in such discussions have been on the rather dubious grounds of religious tradition, fear of social hysteria, the naturalistic fallacy, or similar objections. When it comes to discussions such as these, I think people are most afraid of losing their absolute freedom to (naturally) breed; perhaps it is time to start questioning at what cost that freedom comes to others and this Earth.
