Should america increase gun control or deacrease

Wrong question, really. (Violence has less to do with guns and more with social dysfunction.) But if I had to answer, I'd give a qualified endorsement of control.

Some questions regarding guns in American society ...

Why do Americans feel the need to have guns in society ?

Is America so violent that guns are a necessity ?

Do guns make a society better or worse if they make it worse why not ban them ; if they make societies better why don't other countries introduce them so all their citizens could enjoy the benefits .

Guns should be extremely restricted in societies our police force do not even have them over here ,( Republic of Ireland ) only police specialists are allowed carry them over here ; guns should not be part of a so called civilised society

Umm, wow, youre so wrong i dont know where to start.

The U.S. was founded and it was put in place that the people could haev guns and the govt couldnt do anything to stop them. This is to prevent what happened in Britain, where teh governemtn took control. The prpose of our government is to help, not rule, the people. Also, gun control has never worked before, and only increases muder rates. Guns should be encouraged even.

The government took control in Britain but they didn't take control in the US ?

Your government does rule the people ; so guns should be encouraged as they make society better , ok got it , what a fabulous way to make my country better wonder why no one ever thought of this ?

1) We believe self defense is a right, but while people are equal in rights and dignity, we are not equal in every way. My favorite quote about gun rights is, "God made man, but Sam Colt made him equal." Even a child can kill someone with a gun, and that puts us on equal footing.

2) In some places, yes the US can be dangerous. You could be in an area with a lot of crime or where you are far from help and may find yourself alone with someone who wants to hurt you.

I get what you're saying and yes there are dangerous places in all countries where one normally does not go , I lived in the states many years ago and even i an outsider knew where to go and not go .

My points are and remain is the US so much more violent than other countries ?

Do guns improve American society ?

If the answer is yes guns improve society why don't other countries likewise improve themselves by introducing guns ?

If guns don't improve society why have them ?

1. Yes, and no. Access to firearms is not equitable, nor is the response of the legal system to use of firearms in self-defense. It's a neat theory, but it doesn't pan out.

2. Sure, but introducing a firearm can also escalate a situation and make it more dangerous. Quite a few people also end up having their guns used against them because they freeze up or are otherwise poorly prepared to use their weapon effectively in self-defense.

I'm not saying it's not a nice option to have. But I am questioning how often it's really the best option, and in how many of those cases it's the best option merely because someone else has a gun.

Gun control simply doesn't work. Places like Chicago have the strictest gun laws in the country yet have the most gun related crimes in the country. Also making guns illegal isn't going to stop people from getting guns. When's the last time you saw meth at Walmart?

Gun control only stops law abiding citizens from protecting themselves. The liberal thought is to enforce more and more laws as an attempt to stop something, but it doesn't work. It is already illegal to murder yet that doesn't stop anyone. Most prominent shootings have taken place in "gun-free zones", so that doesn't work. Criminals aren't concerned with the law. Don't you get it? Gun control needs to be drastically reduced so that law abiding citizens can get the protection they deserve. The 2nd amendment provides us with the right to bear arms; without exception.

Yes, I do think that guns should be allowed in America. It is just that there is a lack of self control in the world. The guns didn't do anything wrong (if that makes sense) it is the people that you put behind the guns. Many people have them for hunting, or even self defense. If someone broke into your home, you cannot expect them not to do anything about it. They may fire outside or something to allow the intruder to realize that the people inside know about them. To be honest, I feel as if people just need to do more thorough background checks. Even then, some may say that they are still not safe. This is why I think that there should be tests done, or something done to prevent bad things from happening. Perhaps, say if you have a gun. There should be another background check before you buy more bullets. Say, you cannot have been arrested from the past six months to a year. It really depends on the circumstance, but guns should be allowed. We just have to figure out a way to decipher good intentions from bad intentions.
