I'm just picking this side but honestly I don't give a damn and I am constantly flabbergasted by the people who do. Saying "Merry Christmas" isn't a push of someones religion on another and saying "Happy Holidays" isn't a war on Christmas. BOTH are essentially hoping someone has a good day. It's like complaining that someone said "Hi" instead of "Hello". If you want to wish me a Merry Christmas, great. If you want to wish me a Happy Holidays, great. There are more important things to worry about and deal with than this constant seasonal battle that people like to partake in. Side: Happy Holidays.

I usually side with you, Mr. Dermot, and I, as an atheist and a moderate liberal, have NEVER had an objection to saying Merry Christmas. There are extremists in every party (fewer on the left), and they are the ones who object. However, Happy Holidays covers everyone's holidays, Christian, Jewish, whatever. I think we need to cover everybody in this highly religious season, so happy holidays is, at least, appropriate in many situations. Side: Merry Christmas.
It's fine to disagree that's what makes life interesting , I get your point but again it's ( to me ) PC taken to far as and does this mean happy holidays should be applied at Easter , Halloween , Diwali ? Also to wish someone over here happy holidays would not go down to well over here as Christimas is traditionally associated with the Christian church but is celebrated by many and I find it absurd to try and re -brand into something its not Side: Happy Holidays.
