Harvard Research Says U.S. Christianity Is Not Shrinking, But Growing

Actually the research says that intense Christianity in the US is increasing as a percentage, but that on the whole Christianity is still shrinking as a percentage in the US.

Here is a link to the research paper the article is referring to.

It says...

1. The number of "intense" Christians (strong affiliation, very frequent practice, literalism, and evangelicalism) in the United States is staying the same.

2. The number of moderate Christians is declining.

3. The number of non-religious people is increasing.

It's also only referring to the United States. Other countries are seeing a decline in both "intense" and moderate Christians.

The number of Christians in the U.S. is declining by more than 1% every year. If that rate of decline continues, in just a few more generations Christianity will disappear just like all the other religions before it have.

"The major new survey of more than 35,000 Americans by the Pew Research Center finds that the percentage of adults (ages 18 and older) who describe themselves as Christians has dropped by nearly eight percentage points in just seven years, from 78.4% in an equally massive Pew Research survey in 2007 to 70.6% in 2014. Over the same period, the percentage of Americans who are religiously unaffiliated – describing themselves as atheist, agnostic or “nothing in particular” – has jumped more than six points, from 16.1% to 22.8%. And the share of Americans who identify with non-Christian faiths also has inched up, rising 1.2 percentage points, from 4.7% in 2007 to 5.9% in 2014. Growth has been especially great among Muslims and Hindus, albeit from a very low base."

If we gave all of those illegal alien Mexican Catholics citizenship, we'd go back to officially 90%+ Christian in a day.

I'd like to paste in a quote from that Federalist article...

"This research questioned the 'secularization thesis,' which holds that the United States is following most advanced industrial nations in the death of their once vibrant faith culture. Churches becoming mere landmarks, dance halls, boutique hotels, museums, and all that.

Not only did their examination find no support for this secularization in terms of actual practice and belief, the researchers proclaim that religion continues to enjoy 'persistent and exceptional intensity' in America."

OK then All the debates asserting the US is going to hell in a handbasket because of immorality and atheism must be wrong. OR, if Christianity is growing but all those things are getting worse then clearly Christianity is not the answer to stopping our problems. You choose which, but either way this is an inconvenient study for the holy roller trolls on this site.

Right on, I love Jesus. He is so faithful as my God...............................................................................
