That probably has more to do with the larger number of religious Americans than non-religous. By sheer numbers, it's easier to have more people giving more. That doesn't mean that religious people are better than non-religous, or the other way around. It simply means that people give various amounts of money, and some people are religious and others aren't. Correlation does not imply causation. 1
