All people have the opportunity to change their lot in life for the better. Go take advantage of it and just do it and stop bellyaching about this person has more than you do- go do something about it.

You're welcome.

Nope. If you are a poor black you are screwed because of the history of racism in this country. You have no positive role models, the government wont help, the only way out will be drugs, and your life will be ruined.

There is a simple way to fix this. Force children to go to school, and make sure the schools are good enough for them to realize the value of education so they can get good jobs.

Black people are not genetically lazy, inferior, etc. They are just disadvantaged because of our history. We are closer than ever, and I believe maybe under this trump administration, schools will be improved in black neighborhoods and the next generation will finally emerge.

I have to disagree, I am aware of all the racism that has happened, this would be very hard to overcome. However being black has nothing to do with being poor, or uneducated. At a certain point in someone's life they are left to make a decision. It is a choice to be educated. If you want it badly enough take advantage of all the scholarships and programs only for black people. Stop using the race card to excuse bad decisions people are making in their life! You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. We as human beings are responsible for creating the life we want to live.

Through laws and legislation successive governments have laid the foundations for black people to succeed in the United States in the same way other ethnic groups such as the collection of races from the continent of Asia including the Jews and those from all of Europe.

The predominant congenital characteristics of the black-man's psyche' of an aversion to the discipline of formal education, an apparent lack of executive abilities, an absence of entrepreneurial skills, an underlying precondition of laziness and an inclination to criminal activities have rendered these people incapable of succeeding in the competitive environments of the developed countries of the world including America.

Until the blacks accept that they do not fit into the modern world everyone else is going to have to try to placate and pamber to their constant whinging.

All the majestic words from the likes of M.L.K., will never change the fundamental essence of the black-man's nature.

Insofar that, everything being equal, it is impossible to for a round peg to fit into a square hole M.L.K's dream will never be fulfilled.

Black people are not acting the way MLK dreamed.

"...We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. ..."

Hm the opportunities to the black community are there, but the black community does not chose to take them. So really its completely on the black community.

This is oversimplification. Generational poverty is a hindrance.

MLK wanted people to be judged, "not for the color of their skin but by the content of their character." In response character took a nose dive.

Do you mean the one where he is giving a speech and realizes he is naked, so he tries to run for cover but his legs are slow and wobbly and no matter how fast he goes Bette Midler keeps up running along side staring at his weenie, and then it feels like he is falling off a cliff, and just before he hits bottom to a certain death he wakes up in a clammy sweat?

Nope. That dream didn't turn out to be true.

When the news makes sure to put people's race in their headlines, they want the color of skin to hold weight in the readers judgment. When they put race in some headlines and not others depending on race, it weighs on their judgment. Our culture still judges much by the color of skin. But not the way they used to.

No. Racism is still fairly common, it's gone down for sure but, as bad as it sounds, I think he'd be upset with some members of the black community and their choice of life. When a black kid is teased for studying and accused of acting "white" there is an issue. There are too many people dependent on the government and trying to get all they can for just existing. All the fights, all the sit-ins, all the peace before violence and all of the tenacity that he and the black community had to go through....I think MLK would be quite disappointed with how it is now.

No his dream has not been fulfilled because its many people around the world that still go through racism and plus blacks is not acting the way that MLK dreamed that we will act and yeah it might be different perspectives but his dream isn't fulfilled

Side: NO

Black people are still being treated unfair. It is illegal, but people would take white people over black people.
