Have you Read the Bible? Is it that Important?

The first time I read the bible cover-to-cover, I was a believer.

...until I finished.  That's what made me an atheist.  I just couldn't believe it anymore.

I've read it again, since, and studied it several times.  Is it important enough to actually read it?

Have you actually read it - all of it?

I haven't read all of it, but I would say about 3/4ths of it. Most of it is the Old Testament prophet's that I haven't read. I sometimes to this day read, and study it to this day. I would say that it's very important to read the Bible because it can teach us, rebuke us, correct us, and instruct us into righteousness through Jesus alone.

If you haven't read the prophets, they will blow your mind.

I have read some of them when I was younger, but it is something that I do plan to read.

The scribes and the pharisees were very educated on biblical matters. Yet, they did not recognize The Word.

I've read the New Testament end to end but it was decades ago. And I've read big sections of the Old Testament but in parts where they go on about so and so begat so and so I skipped ahead.

None of this means I'm ready to quote Bible verses. In fact, my observation is to truly read all or most of the Bible should then be an eye opener that this is really many different texts from many different authors and with plenty of evidence of human culture and shortcomings influencing the content.

Nice to see you speaking of the things of God in a civil manner. It is true that people have inserted many changes in the Bible to cast doubt on God's ability to keep His word; trying to make it look like God does not care what He said nor care if people know it. But He does care and He preserved His word for the English speaking world in the King James Bible. One day you will know it's true, if you deny it until your time is over or believe it before it's too late. Are you completely closed minded to the possibility that God Has spoken and His word is unchangeable and true from beginning to end?

You are a liar, pretending you were a "believer". The devil is a believer and you are no better than a devil except that you can be saved and the devil cannot.

Anybody who knows Jesus Christ is risen from the dead after He died for their sins, and has believed on Him and received Him by faith as He is, the Living God the only Savior, is saved and cannot stop believing. Anybody who claims they were a Christian and are now atheists may have fooled themselves and others into believing they were Christians but they did not fool God.....

And, by the way, you stated in another post that you have never read the Bible. Here you claim to have read it cover to cover. Many liars make that claim. Liars will have their place in the lake of fire. You need to renounce your lying and get saved before it's too late (assuming you have not hardened your heart beyond the point of no return).

I have read it cover to cover three times, on number four now, and if all of the individual book readings of favorites like Ecclesiates, Samuel 1 & 2, Kings 1 & 2, The Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ, Jude, Proverbs, Ruth, all four Gospels, the books of Peter and John, James, Romans, Titus, Pslams.........well, I'll be naming them all if I name the ones I have read repeatedly individually. Then there is the uncounted hundreds of word or topic studies. All added together, I think it's safe to say I've read the Bible enough to equal around seven times cover to cover. Shame on anybody who claims to love God but not enough to thirst for His word.

When facing sinners, one must sin just less than them is all.

Absolutist morality cannot work when facing opponents who will sin in any and all ways.

I'm not sure what you think you are, but Jesus faced His opponents directly and won the victory over them, even after they crucified Him, by conquering death and rising bodily from the grave. He embodies "absolutist morality", and you are the sinner whom you need to face....and you will do so on Judgement Day.
