I strongly support the ban of homework because it puts so much stress into everyone's lives. I get at least 5 hours of homework a night and have no time to do leisurely activities with my family. It causes a sense of revenge in kids, who later grow up to be teachers and assign more homework. If you can't fully ban it, at least make it a little easier on kids, like making them simply read and quiz them later to make sure they did it.

Look at it from this perspective. The school system is all for stealing my time. Before I hit college I was forced to go to school. it wasn't a luxury or an activity I enjoyed but I went every day. Now the most BS part is that not only did they steal 7 or 8 hours from my day but when you add homework to the mix that's an extra 2 to 3 hours of my day gone. That is almost half a day used on schooling alone. I try to get 8 to 10 hours of sleep. which means I have 2 to 4 hours of relaxation time. Now what exactly can you do with 2 to 4 hours that will actually be worth the time. i have yet to find anything. Get rid of that shit.

home work is a wast of time. it tacks away from free time at home. it also gives teachers more work.

Another important thing to mention: After I arrive home from say, 7-8 hours of school, I have the 5 or so hours of homework. I get to bed really late and end up having to wake up super early the next day to go to school AGAIN and repeat the process. I get an average of 5-7 hours of sleep because of this. I was so sleep-deprived that I became PRONE TO ILLNESS and got really sick. That's another problem: the sleep-deprivement of homework gies kids way less sleep, which can lead to health problems like it did for me.

Homework sucks. I mean, teachers expect you to spend 2-3 hours on their class every day, but we students have 6 classes. If we spend 2 hours a day on homework for 6 classes and spend 8 hours a day at school that means we get 4 hours of sleep a night, if that, not counting the time to take showers and eat. And studies show that a growing adolescent should get 8-10 hours of sleep per night. So we are getting half of what we need.

If there were no homework kids would be playing video games instead of spending the time with their families or sleeping ;)

Homework shouldn't be banned. Teachers should take more time to think about what homework they assign and if they should assign homework that day. It shouldn't be busy work but a reinforcement of what was done in class. If the teacher needs to assign a lot of homework or homework every school day then the teacher is the problem and the students are suffering because the teacher and school are not working effectively.
