How Is It Possible Some Americans Still Doubt Climate Change Is A Real Threat?

Nowhere is the lunacy of America more poignantly evidenced than in the fact Americans are still debating whether climate science is real, or a conspiracy invented by Al Gore to discredit the fossil fuel industry. It is the proof that science plays second fiddle to money and power, just as one would expect in a Christian capitalist theocracy.

I'm sure lobbyists and the fossil fuel industry has something to do with it. But what I think is even MORE to blame is the American high school-like mentality of enjoying saying oh come on, what's the big deal?! We relish the loud mouth high school champion who stands up and says that's a bunch of bull, even if it isn't. Then we go around back to watch him beat up a couple nerds, smoke a cig, and fondle a couple cheerleaders. Essentially what Trump is doing right now to American institutions.

In fiscal year (FY) 2016, the U.S. government collected almost $6 billion in revenues from royalties, rental costs, and other fees from activities related to energy production on federal and American Indian lands, according to the Department of Interior’s Office of Natural Resource Revenue. These activities include the production of coal, oil, natural gas, and hydrocarbon gas liquids (HGLs) as well as, more recently, renewables.

From FY2010 to FY2013, federal revenues increased, driven by growth in offshore and onshore revenue during a time of relatively high oil prices. Revenues in FY2013 exceeded $14 billion and have since decreased in each successive year. Revenues in FY2016 were the lowest since at least FY2004.

Royalties accounted for 86% of total FY2016 revenue ($5.1 billion) from energy production on federal lands. Royalties are based on the amount of a resource produced and its value. As prices change, royalty revenue also fluctuates.

Note the dates all under the Obama Administration. Obama must have enjoyed that income from the industry that he told you Leftist he opposed. Obama made fools of you low information Leftist.

Like I said in a reply further down, pointing out the dependency of the current system on fossil fuels neither disputes that global warming is happening nor in any way proves we should stay perpetually dependent on them.

Most of the time your posts are a joy to read, including this time. Let me try to explain why I got a little bit aggro earlier.

In its simplest form a code is essentially a strict set of mathematical instructions from which you learn how to begin with one value and end with another. It's like a key which, when applied, enables you to access locked information. And this is the important thing. The locking and unlocking of information requires intent. Intent for that information to only be accessible to someone with a key. Even if we try to refute this by imagining two computers in a room, one of which generates a random code and passes information to the other, intent is still required to program the computers to perform these actions. Without the intervention of intelligence with intent, the computers just sit there doing nothing.

Alright, I understand that now.

I'm still not convinced that proves "intent". Chemicals interact in nature all the time and if you know which chemicals in which circumstances it's possible to predict outcomes. But that doesn't mean the presence of those chemicals mixing automatically means an "intent" put it into motion.

Pay attention here boy from Boston.

QUICK FACTS

Massachusetts hosts three liquefied natural gas import terminals. In 2015, imports equaled about 12% of Massachusetts' demand for natural gas, down from a high of 42% in 2004, but up from a low of 6.8% in 2014.

One of the nation’s two Northeast Home Heating Oil Reserves storage sites, which are intended to avert disruptions in the supply of home heating oil, is located in Revere, Massachusetts.

Massachusetts generated 66% of its electricity from natural gas and 5.8% of its electricity from coal in 2016.

In 2016, solar photovoltaic facilities, including the state's largest community solar project, comprised 88% of the new utility-scale generating capacity installed in Massachusetts.

In 2015, 27% of Massachusetts' households used fuel oil to meet their primary home heating needs, more than five times higher than the nationwide average of 5.1%.

Looks as if Boston needs fossil fuels !

The observation that the current national system runs on fossil fuel does not in any way disprove whether or not climate change is real, nor does it indicate we should perpetually stay on the path of fossil fuel.

Time for another lesson boy from Boston !

Natural gas is crucial to Mass. energy grid

Sometimes it’s hard to accept yes for an answer. Does Massachusetts need significantly more natural gas to reduce sky-high energy and heating costs, continue to meet its climate goals, enable the robust development of renewable energy sources, and sustain and grow its economy?

There is no question it does. Numerous independent studies have found that the state and region face a critical natural gas shortage, including one commissioned by the Patrick administration and released at the end of his term. These findings shouldn’t be surprising. New England has a limited natural gas infrastructure, and its pipelines are reaching — and in some cases have met — maximum capacity, yet it relies more than ever on natural gas not only to heat homes during long winters but to generate electricity year round.

I wouldn't say those words exactly but my point is in a similar vein. People are uneducated. The education system in the US is so fucking deplorable. It's pathetic. I was recently in high school here and it is not one bit about learning or critical thinking. It is designed to make people into sheeple. Even worse, it's bled out from education and entered our culture:

It's root cause for being so awful? Capitalism. The people at the top benefit from people being dumb on the bottom because they don't realize how hard they're getting fucked in the ass (sorry for the language). It's sick and somehow we all fell for it at some point and still go along with it. We need to get rid of capitalism, go to socialism or communism and reform education to be much more about critical thinking than obedience. Let's hope we can do it.

Q-Head you are a complete fool that knows nothing that is why you are Low Information when it comes to knowledge of fossil fuel.

The Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) is an emergency fuel storage of petroleum maintained underground in Louisiana and Texas by the United States Department of Energy. It is the largest emergency supply in the world, with the capacity to hold up to 727 million barrels (115,600,000 m3).

Why does the Federal Government have the largest emergency fossil fuel supply in the world if Climate Chaos is real ? Learn some facts boy !

Renewable energy grows but UK still mostly dependent on fossil fuels

The Telegraph reports today that the amount of electricity generated by wind power between July and September had increased by more than a third on the same period last year, equalling the record-high levels of electricity generated from renewable sources set at the end of 2011. Meanwhile, the UK continues to depend on fossil fuels – and coal in particular – to provide much of its electricity.Despite the bulk of energy – 84.5 per cent – coming from fossil fuels, this is less than it used to be. The figure, which covers all energy production, is 1.7 per cent less than in the same period last year, and actually a record low level.

You mean to tell me the UK dependency on fossil fuel is at 84.5 percent !
