How Should Prisons be Run in the U.S.
This is a perspective based question on how prisons in the United States should be run: There are many types of prison systems that have worked to either prevent violence in prison, or keep repeat offense rates down. For a first world country, mind you, the United States prison system should perhaps be given a new life.

I believe that the United States prisons should be run with a rehabilitative methods. Give the prisoners isolation to reflect on their crimes, give them temptation and good living conditions, as well as trust; and ween them back into society. The goal for the prisoner is to be allowed out of their cells for the longest time, so they can handle society and get accquainted with it. Prisons should be run into the ground, as most already are. 40% of prisoners were convicted under mandatory sentence guidelines for misdemeanor offenses. With the legalization of marijuana spreading, prisons will tip in favor of holding mostly the violent offenders and major felonious actors. 1
