How do you feel about couples that met each other online?

I met a guy online, and we both knew there was som sorta chemistry between us. So we decided to meet for real, and now, 4 months later we are officially a couple.

I really have a problem with telling my family how we meet, and am definitely considering ..faking a story. I am afraid of how my parents will react.

What about you guys?  How do you feel about meeting your soulmate online?   You can take the risks of the guy/girl being a con of some sort.

Hahaha!

No one here, or I hope not. Srom and I are way to different - I could never be with somebody that reliigious, and also he is a couple of years younger than me - And I have a kid .. so it would be pretty irresponsible of me to make a 16 year old (??) a stepdad or whatever you call it.

I'm actually 17 not 16. I'll be 18 on the last day of November.

17 and 18 isn't that much different...

...just saying...

I don't think it really matters WHERE you meet. You can fall in love practically anywhere. I did.

It isn't really a big deal any more. Tons of people find each other online.

You can take the risks of the guy/girl being a con of some sort.

If you meet them in person you have the same problem.

I think it's a good way to meet people that you have things in common with, as long as you're safe about it. Once your family sees how happy you are they probably won't care how you met!

4 months later we are officially a couple.

Reminds me of my ex... well in her words we dated... 6 months later she is married and she only dated the guy for 4 months... You know what I said?

Screw 'em.

I'll stick to the outside.

Okay??

My boyfriend and I don't date online anymore if that's what happened with you two - we just met online.

No. I'm just reminiscing.

I'm pretty much indifferent to it actually.

Obviously before meeting anyone I met online I will preform an in depth background check. However, in all seriousness what is the difference between couples that met on the internet and couples that met in real life. Hint: There are no differences. unless their entire relationship is online there is no difference whatsoever.

I have not really pondered it, but in the little time I have right now, I guess there is nothing really wrong with it...but a pre screening would be good to get rid of the undesirable candidates.

I met my girlfriend online. Now we have been a couple for almost 3 years and have a child together.

We have never been looked down upon because of the fact that we met online. I believe that it is a norm nowadays to hook up over the internet.

I think people should search for somebody within their own local area. Not some stranger they don't know that is far away. They could say anything online and act totally real until you realize that person isn't who they say they are.

Couldn't that happen anyway? I mean, couldn't a person pretend to be something in real life that he or she isn't?

Side: Positive/Neutral

Not if you really know them. I've talked to a lot of girls my age and most of them don't pretend to be a person that they aren't. They are themselves.

I don't know... it seems really weird. But then I am, of course, still a virgin teenager. :(

How is you being a virgin teenager relevant to this discussion?

Side: Positive/Neutral

No sexual experience and no age experience means not knowing for sure what is weird and what isn't.

What Cartman said. Besides... maybe I'll get lucky and have a beautiful female around my age see my post and personal-message me. :D

maximum people who you meet online are not like it offline. not all, but maximum. and you may have met somebody who doesn't come under this category. but there's always more chance of things not working out later on.

most people also say a lot of things online that they wouldn't normally say as a person. and there can be one person controlling multiple accounts on some site too. and we know that

Do you have any statistics to prove this?

i agree i haven't really looked up what i stated here. that came from whatever stories i'd seen and heard. but i did look it up right now, and i don't know to what extent it is correct, because i admit i didn't do any heavy research on it. but anyway, even though it could be wrong,

No its pretty much common sense. I've notice its hard to talk to a girl over text. I have to meet them in order to talk to them. I can't express feelings or give them a look over text.
