How do you feel about the United States having a woman for a president?
Are you for it, against it, or don't you think it matters?
~
I previously had this as a for/against debate, but I think it would work better as a perspectives debate.

She can't run a country and make sandwiches, I say stick to what you're good at. In all seriousness though, I don't care either way whether the president is black or white, female or male, all I want is to be free enough to enjoy my country. I feel if a woman does run, the chances of winning will be slightly higher for her. Americans, although I am one, are idiots. Most of the people I know voted for Obama, for no other reason than the fact that he was black. There reasoning: "We gotta get one in there". facepalm As for when the case is normal, meaning no outlying candidates such as a black or a female, most of the people I know did not review the candidates platforms rather they simply chose the one in the same political party as them. What I'm reiterating is that Americans, or at least a majority of them, are very superficial even in voting, so if a woman is running for president, she damn well better know what she's doing or she'll be in there without a clue. 1

I think a female president would be awesome and historical, I definitely would support a woman running. BUT - I think when a woman finally decides to run for president, people will vote for her because of her politics, not because of her gender - because if they vote for her because of her gender, then the whole point of sex equality is gone. I personally feel that many people voted for Obama just because he is black, not particularly because of his political views and passions. I am 70% sure, that if Obama was white, he wouldn't have been president today. 1
