How do you feel about the social war between Christians and atheists?
I see different arguments on this site on religion. People fight and fight about controversial topics like God being real and other things. It's not only on this site. Iv seen it on YouTube to. Atheists and Christians bashing each other for what? Do you think people should keep this war or should people put there differences behind them and either leave the subject alone or, even better, just give and exchange of beliefs to the different sides?
I wouldn't even consider it a war. I don't think the majority of well educated Atheists seek out Christians and try to argue with them. I feel as if both parties willingly engage in the arguments. I see nothing wrong with that.
Social media sites are appropriate platforms on which to present your views and to express valid criticism on any topic providing the online viral bullies don't reduce the debate to a pitch battle of personal insults.
I agree. By the way, I don't know of any Atheists who are at war. Most of us don't consider a disagreement "war". Most of us don't have an entity to defend, unless you call an opinion an "entity". I will not fight for my opimion, you couldn't take it away from me anyway. I would only fight to keep from being forced to follow the rules someone else believed in. You can follow YOUR belief, I only want the RIGHT to follow mine. I'm against any offensive war, but I have as much right as you to believe as I want. I have nothing against your religion as long as you don't pass laws based ON your religion, which is, by the way, un-Constitutional.
Just so you know, I am an atheist. You are very clearly proving my point that the people who come to these sites represent extremes. Allow me to add that they feel as though they must justify their beliefs to anyone who will listen. xD
And how much intelligence someone possesses determines what level they're at.
High intelligence = high levels of reasoning as Lower Intelligence = low levels of reasoning.
Intelligence doesn't increase just through sheer willpower.
The issue with both sides is their low intelligence.
They don't possess the high level of reasoning required to ascertain that they are both wrong. Wrong because they honestly believe that they can compel others to follow their ridiculous theistic or atheistic belief system.
Nonetheless, people are fiendish creatures that feed on chaos.
So keeping this war alive is the best way to help humanity thrive.
just comparing ideas to viruses. as i see them as similar in a certain light
many people have an idea and feel the need to force it on to others. (widely seen everywhere, and not just on this topic)
some ideas and differences in ideas motivate people to go as far as to kill others. (crusades, some wars, much of bullying, lots of cruelty in my country's history when the figurehead switched ideology too.)
when you've 'infected' someone with an idea and make them truly believe it they too reproduce it.
i won't claim it's a perfect analogy, just another idea ;)
Many ideas that someone believed in CURED or controlled viruses, and, or bacteria. Saved thousands of lives. I would hate to live in a world where most people feared ideas as if they were viruses.
it was only a comparison. you could also say humanity as a whole is a sort of virus, or any other species is a sort of virus in some way. it was also not necessarily a bad reference and some ideas (although i was referring more to ideologies) do help humankind.
I'm torn between the two. Having friendly debates is necessary for some in finding out if you really believe in God but some people take it too far and get pissy when you question God.
Many are seeing the same, because He is opening the Heavens like a scroll!

Deceptions of churches, and of the darkened prespective of the world, and the darkness of sin, and the materialism and the worries of life, these are all Deceptions, sweeping people away like never before. It's a flood poured out.
Right now as in Revelations, the sky is opening up like a scroll, He is revealing hidden truths to His people. So we all should expect the Word to show us things in every familiar scripture that we haven't seen before.
We are the 300 of Gideon's army that cup the water and drink with water in our own hands!
As everyone is being swept away in a flood of darkness, like has never been poured out before! We will shine like never before.
Being filled with their own lusts and lies it will drown them. Vultures eating and feeding on cursed flesh, eating them alive as they devour each other like the beasts they are becoming.
It's like Pinocchio's fun fair, fun then they start growing ears and tails, as the task masters remove their nice fun mask to reveal the devil that holds them captive.
Image of the beast, the mind - forehead of the beast, and the work and deeds of their "hands" There is a lot to know through the geneologies of Cain and Adam. And in the Creation story. And Tower of Babel.
Its what He woke me to show me. And it was a dramatic wake up, and as soon as I could soften even a little He started showing things at the speed of urgency.
Even though my heart isn't fully ready.
That's not His usual way, He is working with urgency, whether we are ready or not.
It's as if He picked me out of the flood and put me on ground in a hurry so I wasn't swept away also.
Because the flood is fierce!
Deceptions are running so deep, that people choose lies over truth blatently and knowingly, even when they know they are lies. The darkness is growing over any light left. And doors are shutting.
He is Separating as we stand. This is the day of judgement.
As this happens people like us will "see Him as He is," and we will shine brighter than the lamps we were shining like, while the other Virgins wake without oil and the merchants have none to sell, they can't even buy it!
The virgins who wake with oil, are sealed with the Holy Spirit. Instead of the Sun shining, it will be darkened, the moon will she'd blood, it's the blood of those who are destroyed by the stumbling blocks. It is the sea of the dead, their blood is on their hands.
But we will shine like the Sun. Because He will reveal Himself like we have never seen before, that's how we lead many to righteousness.
So His elect will shine brighter than ever, with full intensity of the Heavens opening up like a scroll!
Those who have insight will shine truth so bright, we will lead many to righteousness, in this short window
of time that is at hand, this day and hour.
Soon the Heaven will be covered with bronze! People have a short time to seek and know truth and to see Him "as He is," when truth is presented to them. If they don't they won't ever be able to.
This is sealing and separating. Them the end will come.
This message needs to go our, and be understood. The time is short!
Shaking the dust from our shoes we are supposed to be urgent in delivery, the dust is what we walk over, the flesh.
We tread scorpions, their the scorpions stinging men today, as they raise their fists and blame God. He is cruel for His ways they say, they choose to not know Him and their being stung as they raise their fists.
If they don't take heed when they are called, the door will soon shut on them. They won't be able to buy even a piece of bread with a bag of gold.!
Think of Jesus, Judas sold Him for silver, the Bread of Life for siver, He is the truth, and soon a bag of gold won't even be able to buy truth. The truth or bread was sold for silver, and betrayed by those who handled the Bread. Like Judas they sold him for lies. But now He won't be found to be bought or sold, not even for gold.
Truth will be that hard to find, and even harder to see when it IS found.
Like it's value went from selling it and betraying it for peanuts like unrefined "silver" to so costly, it will cost everything you have and everything you are to but it, with gold refined through the intense heat of this hour. Like paying with refined gold!
Only those in God's image will be able to afford it.
So there is an urgency from God. I only understand the parts He showed me so far. He gives us what He reveals as He reveals, and as we walk in that, He gives us more revealed. So He may open more to you.
The speed of His revealing things now seems to be pretty much immediate.
At a speed I never saw before.
I'm surprised at the speed that He began to let me to seeing things around me,
but not surprised because I see that the time of day is the why. The time is now. We need to understand the urgency.
The atheist Christian war is outrageous. I want to speak to religious people for a sec.
Christians, I have to say I'm disappointed in ourselves. Including me. From this society, some of us have tried to push and shove religion into other people's throats and atheists are sick of it. They don't like that and God doesn't like it either. God put us on this earth to proclaim his word to anyone who wants to hear it. If they don't want to hear it then they don't have to. If you want to convert someone then you have to be respectful to them. God either wants us to love him or reject him. Rejecting him is there decision, not yours. We need to hold back and just proclaim his word the way Jesus did when he was on this earth. Think about something's you or other Christians have done. I'm not the perfect Christian because I'm in the wrong as well. We need to proclaim the word or God to everyone without shoving it in there face. We shouldn't cause a war over it. It's unchristian. Us shoving our beliefs in there face is no better then ISIS shoving there beliefs into our faces by killing our brothers and sisters. God put us here to love and not hate.
Now I want to say something to atheists.
Atheists, today I found a debate on this site that was titled "To stupid for science? Try religion" I bet some of you have seen that one. That made me really angry. You guys want to show people that religion is stupid and dumb. I firmly disagree with that but I respect the fact that you are strong on your beliefs. But why would you tell us that we're dumb and stupid for what we believe in. Calling us stupid and dumb for believing in something that you don't believe isn't making you a better person. Some atheists believe in the Big Bang while Christians believe in the creation story so what gives you the right to tell us we're dumb for believing in something that to you sounds crazy when you believe in something that is just as crazy and has the same chance of not even being real. Just like I said to the Christians, you guys are also no better then ISIS killing Christians just because they don't agree with you.
Both sides are in the wrong about started this war. Both sides are acting like ISIS. Christians by shoving there faith into other people and atheists for killing the people who don't agree with everything they tell them. We all can be the better people in this situation. THAT DOESNT MEAN WE HAVE TO AGREE ON EVERYTHING! I know I'm not gonna ever agree with an atheist but does that give me the right to try and make them think the way I think? Does it give the atheist a reason to beat me down just because I don't agree? It goes both ways and we all need to join sides, put our differences behind us, and stop this war. Btw ITS GETTING NO WHERE!!!!! People on the opposite side need to instead have a regular conversation with the other side and have an exchange of ideas. I'm a Christian but I also love to learn about how atheism works and what they believe in. It's very interesting. I'm sure some atheist also loves to learn about religion even though he doesn't believe in it because religion is also very interesting. Can't we just stop the madness?
While I generally agree that it is unproductive to insult others or force ones beliefs on them in any context, I think there are a few things your observations overlooked.
Persecution of atheists by theists has generally been more widespread, long-reaching, and extreme than that of theists by atheists. The closest parallel of theist persecution by atheists would have to be with extreme communist regimes in recent history, and I would argue that that had more to do with political ideology than atheism specifically. The explanation for this is rather evident, in that multiple religions explicitly endorse extreme penalties for atheists whereas atheism has no express creed to even begin to endorse that behavior. This is relevant both historically and contemporaneously, and I think does influence the tone of exchange for many atheists engaging with theists of any denomination. The contrasting extent of persecution is highlighted even in the examples you provide of antagonism between the two groups: your criticize theists for forcing their beliefs onto others and atheists for being sarcastic and verbally abusive; those are not equitable acts.
Speaking from personal experience I have had Christianity forced upon me not just by individuals but by my government. I have had to hide my lack of faith more times than I can recount. I have faced rejection by my Christian family which is more commonly condoned than discouraged in my society. I have not met a single Christian whom I have debated with who can leverage even a remotely comparable experience. This is not to say that antagonism is a productive response, but coming from atheists I find it entirely understandable; I am hard-pressed to appreciate why some Christians comport themselves uncivilly.
I also think it is fairly extreme to compare uncivil exchanges with ISIS, a militarized extremist organization. Proportion is important, and while debate may become heated and even counter-productive that does not make this a "social war" remotely comparable to the incredible violence being enacted by ISIS. I would even suggest that it is somewhat insensitive to those living with that violence to even suggest the comparison. I appreciate what I think you were intending to communicate, but I think the juxtaposition was a bit off.
While I would not necessarily endorse the "Too stupid for science? Try religion." approach, I think there is a valid point hidden in the hyperbole. The difference between an atheist criticizing theism for its lack of logic and evidence is that religion is fundamentally a matter of faith, whereas the Big Bang Theory and similar concepts are substantiated by scientific research and evidence. Whether predominantly forming one's beliefs around faith or science is more or less valid is another debate entirely, but I do think you have glossed over a rather inherent and important difference between the two stances.
I'm an Atheist and I'm not at war with ANYONES religion. I just left a debate where a "Christian" called ME stupid and hypocritical (among other things), just for expressing my opinion. As long as theists stay out of lawmaking that forces all of us to live by their rules, I have no problem. I have one daughter that is Catholic, another that is Baptist, two others that don't give a damn, a mother that is going to a Baptist Church(though I wouldn't call her a real believer. I have no "war" with any of them. Fact is, I feel more "Christian" than most of my friends and relatives who claim to be! Several of them are horrible, cruel, nasty people! I'll take my chances by living with human compassion and decency, rather than be like my Christian friends and family. Most of them seem to like and respect ME more than I do some of them, because I don't tell them how I REALLY feel.
Jesus gives a distinction between the nominally Christian and the actually Christian and divides them up between hearers and doers. So, according to Jesus, Christianity is a programmatically ethical religion instead of a merely doctrinal belief system. Plenty of proof texts exist, but this is one example:
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will know them by their fruits. Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 7:15-21)
Look at you. You're a horrible example of what happens when you follow Christ. You should stop calling people fools since it only serves to show you have no idea what is actually foolish.
I am fighting against you. I am not fighting against God. Does your God seem like the kind of being that would think it is ok for you to call yourself God?
Frankly, it's because YOU are likely wrong and I am right. There is no "hell" except in your programmed imagination. I haven't been struck by lightening in 78 years. I've sinned mightily (in your opinion) but, instead, eventually, we'll be friends and join each other in the universe as "stardust", not as guests of your "Big Guy in the sky". 78 years old and you haven't learned anything but to hate God...and somehow you think you have defeated Him and He can't leave you dying in Hell forever the same as you are dying now. Well, go on and see. Let me know if you see before your dying is finalized and you can't get out of it in Hell. For now, I'm letting you go, giving up. Sorry.
LIKELY wrong is a lot of likely. At least you admit that you are not really sure what you are talking about. I know where I am going when my time here is over, and I know who I'm going to see, He's the One who died for me, and you "likely" are going to end up in Hell because you are choosing your sin over God's offer of forgiveness and pardon to be saved from Hell. You love death and that's what you are getting, and is it not justice? Is Hell not justice against God's creatures who went against Him?
You are heaping up more and more of God's wrath against the day of Judgement and getting what you deserve. God is offering you forgiveness, pardon, through faith in the blood of His Son who died for you, and His Son will be your Judge and you will have His blood on your head and on your hands after you trampled it under your feet, when He offered it to you as a covering for your sin.

If I observe that you say there is no God, by your own words, I know that you are defying God and He has no place for you in Heaven and you are on your way to Hell. You are judged by God, according to His word, and your own words will be used against you in God's justice. You answer to Him, not to me. The fact that I can see your guilt and know the outcome of you will not repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved from Hell is simply observation. You look like a fool, and hate to admit it because you hate God and love your sin more than life, you love it so much you do not care that it is taking you to Hell and are you not getting justice? You are getting justice if you like it or not, and I'm not your judge, fool. I'm not judging you, I don't have that right. I am observing your own words which testify against you.
And before you go throwing that garbage (when taken out of context, it's garbage) of "you are in danger of Hell if you call me a fool", that passage was in context of a brother calling his brother a fool. To be my brother, you have to be a child of God who you deny. Your brothers are fools the same as you, and when they call you fool, they are in the same danger of Hell fire as are you, fool.
And even using the Bible as an argument against me, when you believe the Bible is lies and myths, makes you a liar and hypocrite by implying the Bible is valid to support your arguments if you twist the meaning of the Bible and take things out of context....which is nothing to you, since you are a fool and don't really care about the truth.

One of the biggest reasons I am NOT Christian is so many of them, like YOU, spread so much hatred it becomes disgusting! One cannot debate a Christian without bringing out that hatred because so many think that THEY speak for GOD! The names I call you are based on scientific observation of your own words. Calling a rock a rock is not judging the rock. If I pick the rock up and throw it into a volcano, you might say I judged that rock to be melted. You, fool, are what you are and I can tell by your own words. It is God who executed Judgement, not me...who is making you die, me or God? And who's fault is it, your fault or God's fault?
You see, well, you probably don't see, but God is offering you life forever now in the resurrection of His Son who offers you forgiveness after He paid your price and died in your place. You won't see, will you? You won't believe Hell is real until you find yourself unable to get out of it, will you?
I'm telling the truth about reality and you, like most people hear, hate me for it. It is for this reason that they crucified Jesus Christ...he told them the truth and they hated it. If you follow Jesus in reality, people are going to hate you because the Saviour living in you gives you new desires for good and new disdain for sin. That is why most people will not believe...they love their sin and do not want to take sides with God against themselves...it's pride.
Picture it this way.......imagine yourself on the edge of a cliff needing safe passage to the other side of a chasm, watching somebody walk a tight rope over the chasm pushing a wheel barrow. He pushes the barrow close enough to the edge where you are standing, so you can climb in. He says "get in, I promise to keep you safe and get you to the other side".
The chasm is death. The person pushing the wheel barrow is Jesus who conquered death proving Himself to be God, the Son of God equal with the Father.
Now look at the way you are acting talking bad about Him while He is standing there waiting for you to trust Him to save you. You don't have to take the plunge in death alone, the Savior did if for you, you can trust in what He did and be safely kept for Heaven. You don't have to burn in Hell.
God is handling it, but you are not trusting Him to handle you. You are defying Him. I understand I'm rubbing the cat the wrong way to say this, but you are being a fool. Until you start listening, there's really nothing else I can say. Anybody who says there is no God is a fool, and if they don't repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ in His resurrection, the One who would have been their Savior will be their Judge...the One who paid with His blood to cover their sins will be the One they face as their Judge with their own blood on their heads and no excuse, no way to cover their sins and they will be cast away from God's goodness forever in Hell. That's the truth. I can't help it if it makes you mad.
You might not hate most people who believe differently than you, but you sure act hateful to me, basically telling me to shut up, the desire of your murderous heart which is the same attitude which put the Innocent Lamb of God, Emmanuel, God in the flesh, on the cross after they beat him to a pulp and nailed his hands and feet there before they dropped the cross into the hole in the ground which held it upright as he suffered, bled, and died. He did it for you, but all you want is bits and pieces of his saying by which you feel you justify yourself.....like "don't judge me, bro, I don't deserve to die and burn in Hell". Of course your version of His words is twisted beyond recognition as being from Christ. It's not His word any more when you edit and change things.
I'm fully confident that God will handle everybody and everything and eventually will purge His creation of sin when all sinners are forever confined in the all-consuming Lake of Fire which is the second death, from which the smoke of their torment will rise forever and God will wipe away every tear from the eyes of those who are redeemed by the blood of His Son.
Sin is despicable. When a person loves God, they hate sin. When a person hates God, they make excuses for their sin. That's what you are doing, making excuses and God is not going to buy it. The way you are acting and talking, you would not be a Christian even if Jesus Christ Himself were talking to you now. You would join the crowd not caring or maybe even cheering like many did, taunting Him as he hung on the cross. The only reason you will not believe is because you think you can justify yourself and you love your own way...even though it amounts to no more than dying.
You will have eternal life living in heaven through faith in the Son of God, or you will have eternal death, dying as you are now, in the Lake of Fire which is the second death....final.
There's something inside everybody which rings with the truth God's judgement, mercy, and love...but most people love darkness and want to hide, thinking they can defy God.

If you say there is no God, you have declared that you are a fool. If you don't like me saying so, that's too bad for you. The Bible says in Psalm 14:1 that the fool has declared in his heart, "there is no God". If you are going to talk like a fool, act like a fool, and be a fool, then I have to say you are a fool or I am not being honest, fool.
If you think what I'm saying has no merit, why does it bother you if I call you a fool? The basis of my calling you a fool supposedly has no meaning in your thinking, so why not just shrug it off and say "oh well, I know what he means by that and I know it's not true so why let it bother me"?

You hate God so when somebody tells you the truth, you say they are hateful.
Your hate screams in the punctuation of caps to emphasize your anger in certain words. Anybody who says Jesus Christ is not God in the flesh is a liar, intentionally or unintentionally. You should say you don't know, if you say you know He is not God, then you are lying and a person who is lying is a liar.
You live eternally or you die eternally. You are living or you are dying. In your anger you think you are doing both. All you are doing is sealing your separation from God in your sin, and God has no place for you in death other than the fire of Hell if you want to "live your own way", which is dying.
If by our words you show that you are a fool, it is not judging you to call you a fool, it's observation of the facts and you need to know what you are doing to yourself as you oppose God and bring condemnation on yourself like a fool.
It's so simple, Bib. It's really funny to me how you pretend like you don't know what you are talking about. You know...you may have buried it with long discourses of twisted reasoning, but you know you are trying to hide the fact that you deserve to die NOW, and you NOW deserve to burn in Hell forever. I don't believe you do not believe it. I think there is a part of you which knows the truth, and you are doing all you can to keep that part silent. The fire of Hell will make that part scream at you, and you will hate yourself for not listening before it was too late.....my guess anyways. The question of "if you have the right to exist outside of Hell, why are you not burning in it now" is designed to make you think. You cannot claim to have the right to exist outside of Hell when you are dying.....all of your rights are being taken away.......therefore, your "rights" in reality are privileges, gifts from God, temporary allowances. You do not have the right as a sinner to exist outside of Hell. If you think you have the right to exist outside of Hell, why are you dying?
Who is that woman in your icon photo, and why is she dressed like a high priced prostitute? Why do you have your arm around a woman who is dressed like a prostitute? You look like a man at a whore convention in the picture. And you are trying to tell us you are a great Christian guy?
I don't mean to shove beliefs in your face, but why are you shoving that picture of a woman dressed like a high priced prostitute at a whore convention where the men have to wear nametags proving they are safe and have enough money for the exclusively high priced whores?
Just saying, that's what it looks like in your picture....very Christian picture there.
Are you serious? You are attacking a picture because a woman DARES to dress nicely and show a little shoulder? You don't even know her and you judge her....wait...you aren't supposed to do that are you? Her dress is long and less revealing than what most of society see's now a days anyways.
First of all we are in the last days, I mean the last hours of the last days. The Bible uses words like hours and days seasons months etc
As these days move forward 2 things will happen
The Beast and the False Prophets, Antichrist will be revealed, And also Children of Light will be revealed.
Jesus is going to separate sheep from goats, wheat from tares, good trees from bad trees, and He is going to do it right in front of our eyes, while everyone is saying peace and safety, marrying, and living life. And only those who have insight will see it happening.
And in it you will shine brightly as the sun and lead many to Salvation, while the darkness separates and you will be hated for His Name sake.
Do not be decieved, Love them, call to them, save them, but don't deny Him. There is a highway and you can see it, and there is a narrow Way and you can see it.
Listen to His Word like He is speaking directly, because He is.
Don't be discouraged from following Him.
He promised in the last days love will wax cold
They will hate you for My Name
Be faithful till the end and He will give you the Crown of Life, but if you deny Him, then He will deny you.
It's tempting to compromise, but let me ask you, if you don't stand to show the Way, and you become a silent voice of tolerance, did you really love them? I'm not saying to be like West Borough Baptist, I don't think they have any of the Love of the Father in them.
But you have to stand on truth, because every other foundation will quake and fall. And Judgement always begins with the house of God.
Actually he sounds like He has a heart that can hear God.
Time will tell if doctrines are his god, or if God is his God..
I don't know if God is raising up people in each church to be
a trumpet to call out to those who have hearts for God that can hear. They are in every church, the church is the problem, the tares are the problem, but let's not burn the wheat!
Oh are you assuming that is his understanding of God, doctrine and understanding are not the same. He could be born again as a Catholic, they have the foundation of faith. The heretic doctrines have piled up in Protestants now too.
Christians were Christians before the Catholic church was invented. One of them was named John the Baptist. Real Christians did not bow to the Catholic Church, never have and never will. After several centuries, some Catholics started to see the truth of the word of God and protested Catholicism and became the Protestants. You're a protestant, aren't you? Always protesting.

Catholocism took many expressions globally, I'm sure there were groups that didn't, but there were many Christians in there.. If not, why would Revelations call out "Come Out Of Her My People"
Legalized sodomy and freedom of speech cannot coexist, the Bible will be outlawed as hate speech. Business owners are being legally robbed of everything they own if they refuse to condone and support men abusing themselves sexually with men, and women with women sexually abusing themselves with each other. Churches will come under attack if they stand in support of the Bible's commentary regarding sodomy and women who pervert nature.
Sodomy has been legal in numerous states and other nations for quite some time now. Never has it followed as a consequence that the Bible has been outlawed, nor have churches been attacked. What you and other conservative Christians are experiencing is not oppression or marginalization, but rather an increasing loss of your ability to oppress and marginalize others on the sole basis of your beliefs.
Most Christians generally do mind their own business and respect others' choices. There is no "social war" between Christians and atheists, just some angry and self-righteous people on either side making an unnecessary stink.
Personally, I do not care if other people are self-righteous so long as that does not lead them to try and impose their views upon me. I just do not think that those people's declarations of "social war" have any actual merit is all.
We are commanded to care for people around us, unlike Cain, we are our brothers keepers.
We are light houses at sea, and we are rescue boats.
If you don't want to be saved pull back, but there are some who will realize the rescue and we do it for them.
So if the boat comes to you, pull back, but don't hinder others who are ready for their hope and their rescue.
Jesus gave us a command, and He gave us gifts and His Spirit and greater is He that is in us, than He that is in the world.
So I understand you don't want to be disturbed or challenged, I understand that light is uncomfortable when you live your darkness, but just because you don't want salt or light or a rescue boat, doesn't mean we should stop being salt and light and rescuing those who would prefer not to be pulled under by the darkness that is consuming them.
Well if you are equalizing my statement as common statements, suggesting that it sounds like a story line out of a book or movie.
I am saying everything that God is, is an image reflected in us.
So we create movies and story lines borrowed from the creativity of the Creator. But it matters greatly not to minimize true spiritual experience, and true spiritual words, or the use of words that display the Character of God in reference to the context of God, minimizing the Creator to be in our image. Instead of acknowleding the context of speaking of the creature, the created image of God.
My sister is an atheist, I'm religious. There is no war between us. In fact we have some amazing debates on our beliefs and in the end even if we don't always agree, we still have a healthy dose of respect for each other.
It's when you hit extremism on either side that we have issues. We have people on this very forum who claim they are religious but their very actions and words scream otherwise much to the degradation of the religion they claim to represent.
We also have Atheists who continuously claim that religious people are stupid, closed minded and hateful....showing the very same bigotry and intolerance of those "bible thumpers" they claim they are better than.
If either side wants to claim their side is better then they need to show by example. Regardless I think we all need to respect, appreciate and rejoice in each others differences. How boring would it be if we were all the same?
