How do you know that reality exists?
Reality... how do I know that this all isn't in my head? What if this is all a dream or hallucination? How do you know the same? Reading 1984 by George Orwell (Erik Blair) led me to these thoughts. I just wanted to know what you all think.

Why was this downvoted? The fact remains though that you do perceive stuff and come to ideas because of it, even the idea of no reality. That one can come to a realization means something is real. Our perception of that is inconsequential. I'd argue without evidence to the contrary, that we perceive what is most beneficial for survival. What one would assume would be most beneficial to survival would be the closest possible to reality (otherwise you'd die off from some unobserved reality or some observed unreality), therefore there is no real reason to assume that our senses are tricking us to any detrimental degree. Sure, there are a lot more colors in the rainbow than what we can actually see. Sure there are a lot more noise than we can here. But noises exist, sight exists. There's no reason as of now to doubt all things perceived, just understand our limitations. 1

The only thing we know is our mind. Everything else comes through some form of physical sensor, which is decievable. We know that we have thoughts, that we are some form of being capable of some form of thoughts. From that, it is logical that something exists which contains a medium for sentiment thoughts. While this may not be the reality that we know, it is something, something real, and I would call that 'reality'. 1
