How many languages do you speak and which is your favourite?

I speak Spanish and English, aiming to learn more languages in the future. I don't really have any preferred language because i think they're all precious for their own reasons. They're all interconnected in some way and always stem back to another more ancient language which i think is fascinating in itself. What about you?

English is my de facto communication language because I live in a nation where it has the majority.

German I learned since about ten years ago. I enjoy the sound of it, particularly casual speech but especially speeches and important dialogues. It has an official sound to it.

I started learning Italian years ago but have lacked people to practice with, still I can understand it quite well when browsing texts, and listening to slower speakers. It is my favourite conversation for songs, especially operas but also folk music.

I've listened to conversational Japanese for years, and have picked up a lot from it. I enjoy the language for its surprising terseness. However I wouldn't wish for its use as a general purpose language because it has limited phonetic capacity and makes foreign words sound bad.

Edit: I also prefer Portuguese to Spanish here, as Spanish is almost becoming like a second regional language, however Portuguese sounds more pure compared to how vulgar Mexican Spanish has become over the centuries.

I speak English with a proficiency of which I am very proud indeed. I am also well versed in French, though I don't expect to achieve fluency for another two years.

My favourite language is, of course, English. There is no other language that can convey the same meaning in so many ways. For example:

"Qymosabi is immoral."

is the same thing as

"Qymosabi is depraved" (my favourite).

and

"Qymosabi is deplorable"

and

"Qymosabi's character is of questionable moral fortitude".

Ah oui, vous parlez francais? J'ai besoin de quelqu'un avec qui je peux pratiquer. Il n'y a personne chez moi qui parle francais, malheureusement.

I speak English for the most part, but have begun to learn French. Obviously not as well as a native, but perhaps as well as a new native (of France). I think French is probably my favorite of the two for the beauty of its speech as well as how much of it has leaked into other European (especially English) languages.

P.S.

I have some more parallel sayings for you:

"The ethical foundation of Qymosabi is not without suspicious construction."

"A significant faction of Qymosabi's irrelevant rants are rooted in the racism of days gone by."

"Qymosabi's arguments fundamentally lack an anchor to reality."

Oui, je parle français. Il y a quelques semain, j'ai eu une conversation avec passionfruit, ici.

AS to Qymosabi.

"I will not countenance Qymosabi's hatred for one twentieth of a jiffy."

"Qymosabi's sentiments are rooted in archaic fears bordering on paranoia."

"If one were to weigh Qymosabi's soul against His misdeeds (them having already tipped the scales), the scales would not turn in the estimation of a hair."

"Methink'st that Qymosabi is a general offence and every man should beat him."

I speak English and Russian. I don't have a favorite. I would like to learn German, Chinese, Arab, Spanish, Italian and Korean.

Russian is up there on my list of languages to learn. Mostly because Russian accents sound so funny ;)

As an American I don't even speak English that well. French sounds sexy when a hot chick is saying it though, I'd go with that one if I were to learn another language.

I speak English and a little bit of Spanish. I've made attempts over the years at Japanese and Chinese. I've been using lingt.com to study Chinese, but it's slow going. Learning languages is hard and boring and pretty much everybody speaks English, so... fuck it, why bother?

Well mainly because it's very enjoyable listening to other languages and not just hearing "wahwahwah."

Yeah, I guess that would be nice. Any tips for learning?

I speak English and Spanish. English is just my mother tongue and I've been learning Spanish since I was 8 thanks in part to the public school district. I like English I guess, because I'm very good at speaking it... But I like Spanish more. I wish I was completely fluent in both. People could consider me fluent in Spanish, but I won't until I can go to Mexico and have a complete conversation without saying, "Mas despacio por favor".

Ermm, Mi estas scii du.

I know two, English and Esperanto.

I don't have a favorite, it's a tie between how often I use English, and how easy it is to communicate with Esperanto.

I can speak Spanish, Chinese, and English. English is my favorite of course since I speak it the most. I use Chinese a little bit mostly for words I don't know the English of, and as for Spanish, only in school

Side: No Favourites they're all good

Besides English, I can speak French. English remains my favorites since I live in the United States.
