How much science do we actually KNOW?

Hello:

If knowing NOTHING about science is a 1, and knowing EVERYTHING about it is a 10, where do you think we fall?

Do you think we'll EVER know EVERYTHING?

There is an infinite amount to observe and study in this world. The amount of it we've studied through science must be miniscule compared to the potential.

And yet, despite saying that, it's also true that the tiny little bit of potential science we've already observed is still 100 fold the amount we learn from religious sources which are based on the thoughts of Bronze Age civilization.

I'll take the less than 1% we know about from science over the less than .01% we actually know from religion.

I agree with Grenache. over a thousand years ago it looked like we knew 100% about religion and we were closer to .01% on the science category. Today, maybe 10% THINK they know all about ... whichever religion they align with (the rest, other religions, know NOTHING!). We've only scratched the surface of science, I don't think you can set a percentage on an infinite entity.

I'm quite certain that, IMO, religion will fade away as science knowledge increases and common sense turns it into mythology. I have NO animosity to those that want to believe, in fact I encourage those who need it to "be my guest", as long as they keep it reasonably private. I don't push my beliefs on anyone, I think that should be the way things are, but.......

I think there's no way to know how much we know. Even if we thought we knew 100%, I think there would be no way to know if there was something we were missing. That being said, there's seems to be lots of stuff left to discover, so probably way below 5.

When I consider the span of history, it's obvious that in an extremely short period of time science has progressed at an astonishing rate. There is of course much still unknown but we're advancing so rapidly that unless we kill our ecosystem (which unfortunately is highly likely) and make ourselves extinct or destroy modern civilization there's no way to predict how far we can go.

It's exponential growth, brother. The more you know the faster you learn.
