How we want to live is selfish, and not only selfish: it is futile. We cannot live by our own desires, we cannot live by our own efforts, we cannot live as we are dying. Life is a gift of God, offered in that He gave Himself as payment for our sins so we can be forgiven, and as He is risen from the dead He will be the life of all who will believe on Him and receive Him by faith. We are all dying, but all the while we are we are living. If one does not believe in an afterlife then they may see worshiping or practicing a religion as a waste of their short yet precious time on Earth. We are allowed to spend our lives how we want to, and even Christians have to admit that because of Free Will. Side: How I want to live
How I want to live? I know I cannot live, I must die and I am dying (in body)....yet there is a new me created in Christ (the word "Christ" means "Messiah" which is the promised Savior, the Redeemer of sinners) as Christ lives in me by the Spirit He gave me when I saw my need of mercy, believed Jesus is risen from the dead, and sought God's forgiveness based on the fact that He died for my sins and is risen from the dead. Jesus came into me by His Holy Spirit, gave me a new heart and now He is my life and I will be changed forever to be like Him, with Him forever in Heaven and sin will in that eternal day be forever gone from this body of death I must carry here. My ability to live my life how I individually see fit depends to some extent on other people allowing that to happen. Just as another individuals ability to do the same depends on whether I or someone else will interfere with them. This is why the bulk of laws in civil society are centered around protecting individual rights and security from other individuals. To live how I choose I must accept living in certain ways that We choose. Side: How I want to live

This is why the bulk of laws in civil society are centered around protecting individual rights and security from other individuals. It's a shame you don't understand that these laws also extend to the international community. For example, there are laws in place which make occupying land which is not your own illegal.
