On Thursday, a suicide bomber attacked a popular Sufi shrine in southeastern Pakistan, killing at least 73 people and injuring hundreds more. Before the massive blast, worshipers at the renowned Lal Shahbaz Qalandar were dancing to the sound of cathartic music.The attack occurred in the remote town of Sehwan in the Sidh province of Pakistan. Medical personnel in the region have been overwhelmed by lines of mangled bodies, entering one by one into local hospitals.“Officials at one hospital said they had received 60 bodies and 250 injured patients, including 40 in critical condition,” reports The Washington Post.ISIS Afghanistan-Pakistan branch has already claimed responsibility for the bombing through a propaganda channel.“The bombing at Lal Shahbaz Qalandar shrine followed three successive days of violence that claimed 25 lives in all four provinces of Pakistan and two tribal areas,” reports the Post. “On Monday, a suicide blast in the eastern city of Lahore killed 13 people and injured scores. An affiliate of the Islamic State, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, said in an email to journalists that the bombing was the start of an operation targeting government agencies and sites.”
