IS INDIA A GOOD COUNTRY

Firstly, what kind of a stupid debate question is this?

Is India a good country?

It is equivalent to asking - "Do the Chinese live in China?"

And if you haven't got what i mean then here it is in simple words.

India is one of the best countries in the world today. And there is no arguing on that.

And i should really say that if farmers chased someone's cousin in Bangalore, and the people bathe in the Ganges, it is nothing which will make India a supposedly 'bad' country.

India is just another emerald studded into this beautiful world. Each country has something unique to itself. All countries are not the same. India is a land of diversities and the most amazing fact is that throughout these 63 years of independence, India today has grown up to be one of the most powerful nations in the world. It is predicted to become a superpower in 2020. It has one of the largest economies in the world. India has produced some of the best and most famous and influential personalities through time. India can boast of Mahatma Gandhi, a person of such strength who led India towards Independence through a path of non-violence.

India has produced world-best sportpersons. India is the home of mathematics, the basic of Science.

The list is endless.

But we shouldnt even be arguing on this topic.

Every country has its pros and cons. What makes it a good country is the fact that whether it is fighting against its disabilities to make itself better or if it stays at the same place for ages.

I'm sorry, but you do not give any reasons as to why this is so, and I'm afraid that what you have stated is incorrect. India is actually an okay country. This is because of many reasons, from low infrastructure to high government corruption rates. You can walk along the street in any city there, say, Delhi, and the stench is unbelievable. The streets are full of trash, and there are beggars everywhere. Is is most definitely not the best country in the world.

surely................!.india is very beautiful country .it's diversity and culture is world famus and it is not a backward country but people taken a preconceived thought about india while it ismain country of world.

Presently I prefer India. India is great country in culture, history, philosophy ,democracy, tolerance.,non violence.

India is also home to a diversity of wildlife in a variety of protected habitats.Traditional Indian family values are highly respected, and multi-generational patriarchal joint families have been the norm, although nuclear family are becoming common in urban areas.

India with nearly the same people, great history, culture but presently is plagued by violence.Presently I prefer India. India is great country in culture, history, philosophy ,democracy, tolerance.,non violence.I hear that 25% of engineers in Silicon Valley come from India. The weakness of India is overpopulation, caste system and extreme poverty for a part of the population.-- Indian cuisine, Indian dress, Indian festivals, Indian architecture, Indian music ,Indian dance,Theatre in India, Indian film industry,Indian literature . Four major religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism originated here, while Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam arrived in the first millennium CE and shaped the region's diverse culture.India is a republic consisting of 28 states and seven union territories with a parliamentary system of democracy. Economic reforms since 1991 have transformed it into one of the fastest growing economies in the world; however, it still suffers from poverty, illiteracy, disease, and malnutrition. A pluralistic, multilingual, and multiethnic society, India is also home to a diversity of wildlife in a variety of protected habitats.Traditional Indian family values are highly respected, and multi-generational patriarchal joint families have been the norm, although nuclear family are becoming common in urban areas. An overwhelming majority of Indians have their marriages arranged by their parents and other respected family members, with the consent of the bride and groom. Marriage is thought to be for life, and the divorce rate is extremely low.

Yes Ma'am.. Beauty adds to a country's goodness! Tourism and travels add to the national income. It also reputes the nation. Dowry system is a cultural threat to the societal being of India.. It is a possible eradication if the 'Indians' got it's back instead of stead heavy complaining. Hindu-Muslim riots have existed before the partition and after the partition. It is also a factor that can be if not easily.. definitely treated. But, in spite of the differences various communities come together for education.. Work together in almost all the fields and work equally for the benefit of the nation. And.. Surprise-Surprise it has been helping the nation develop. Hasn't it?

Culture has played an immense role at binding the confidence with the help of faith which otherwise was ripped apart during the bad, failing days of India. Culture is India's hand of support. India is improving it's Non-Violence notion. And the International formulae such as, of Non-alignment via Non-violence is an excellent example.

A death of a cub could be due to any instance.. It is inappropriate to find an easy target to blame.

Im not indian but i can tell you one thing India is a beautiful country

There might be poverty and people living in streets and such but you see that in developed countries like the US ! But India has risen well above her potential. You can find anything there that you can find in developed countries. It has some of the best IT universities, some of the smartest scientist. It is one of the top 5 nations with the best army. It has its own movie industry that can compete with hollywood anyday. People just see east asian countries and they have this notion that it is poor. But to be honest would you believe that according to FORBES 2009 billionare list, 2 of the top 10 billionares are Indians ? Would you belive that 7 Indians were in the list of 98 billionares of 2009 ??

its a truly non racist country...

so welcoming & so lovely... The most colorful country I have ever ever ever seen in my life

one who says India is not number 1 that person really need to go to India stay there for at least 2-3 Months to have an overall Idea, because India is so good that one needs whole life long to explore it... One visit is not enough to understand or to know India or to understand Indian people...India is one of the most powerful nation in the whole world. Truely speaking, "America is a hybrid nation". They are top listed nation in the field of technology is only cause of hire purchasing system of technological inputs from other countries like Japan, England, china etc. America has nothing of their own. Though Indians, in the field of human skills, intelligence and brainpower are far far advanced than americans, they select the best ones to be employed for the further improvement of their country. "THAT'S WHY AMERICA IS BETTER WITHOUT HAVING THEIR OWN ABILITY"...

Well yes and no.

India has been a country that has brought up many great people, people who have effected the world such as Gandhi a man who brought civil disobedience from an idea to a way of forming civil rights.

There have ,however, been many religious based slaughterings throughout India over the years, overpopulation, and essentially bad governing.

So yes/no since there was no definite side to choose I'll make this side the yes/no side ;)

Poverty, disease, and crime are rampant. My cousin got chased throughout the streets of Bangalore by a group of peasants. I've heard-tell of visitors having to hire bodyguards.

The smell is horrific, and many of the people bathe in the River Ganges.

Lol.. Why would the poor old peasants chase your cousin down? Also.. There are no peasants in Bangalore. It has got to be a place else where or at a distance from Bangalore.

Bangalore is a 'City.' Quite developed and sophisticated in it's existence and way of life.

although banglore is a good place and peasants don't run behind people here. you might have got that wrong.

and many of the people bathe in the River Ganges.

many people believe that their sins get washed off in the ganges so they bathe in it. although it's not very clean in some parts but it is pretty clean in its originating parts

No, for these reasons

1)They're no longer part of the British Empire

2)It's to easy to exploit

3)Terrible social security

4)Corrupt government

5)Too many religions/language dialects

6)60% of citizens are illiterate

7)They're no longer patriotic

8)Copied americanised ideas before they're developed enough to cope with it, e.g they don't want to work hard and still want to earn lots.

That is the highest of insults and I am deeply offended, take that back at once!

If you did your research properly you'ld find out that I am British.

"v are performing better than the british empire who completely looted and ruined our nation."

If it wasn't for the British empire you woukldn't be a nation, instead you'ld be a bunch of principalities which would eventually be divided up amongst China and other neighbouring nations, if you survived conquest by the French, Dutch and Japanese.

First , If you think a country is bad just because it is not a part of the British empire then no country in the world is good and this shows that you support imperialism.

Second, the literacy in India is 75% which means only 25% of people are illiterate ( you crossed limits of exaggeration, even in 2011 when you answered the question the rate was 73%)

Third , how can you say too many religions/dialects is bad? In fact, too many religions means that the country supports secularism and many dialects manifest the rich diversity of Indian culture.

Fourth, your reasons seem so subjective and naive that you yourself seem illiterate.
