I support this innovative means of combating litter...
The township of Impecunia TX has found an innovative means of combating litter: a two week ban on the sales of any product found not properly disposed of.
"Impecunia was spending too much money picking up after people" says Mayor Natalie Milf. Now the streets, parks and roadways are close to spotless, with little or no litter found anywhere.
Mayor Milf explains the law this way. "When I was a youngster, we had to put away our toys after playing with them. Any left out were collected by Mom at the end of the day and put away for two weeks. I thought we'd try some of Mom's discipline with the problem of litter".
Shop keepers were not too fond of the strict anti-litter law as sales of beer and cigarettes were put on hold for a month when the new law was put into effect. Now they say they enjoy not having to clean up their parking lots from the litter their customers used to leave behind.
This inovative effort in Impecunia has won the praise of folks at Don't Mess With Texas. However, the sheriff is one person still unconvinced about the new anti-litter law. He notes that vigilante justice has sprung up in the town, especially against tourists driving through the area and unaffected by the consequences of their littering.
One family was found last week tied up naked at the edge of town with a big "L" painted on them, presumably for their thoughtless littering.
"Them fools tossed out a dirty disposable diaper from their car" says Barker Wrongtree, arrested for waylaying the family. "That's not only just plain nasty, its bad news for me and my family. I wasn't about to have my kids running around butt naked without diapers for two weeks because of some mess-making big city folk".
Next: Impecunia's brand spanking new spanking law.

Not bad, but Singapore has one better. There is imprisonment, fines and community service for littering. This includes a single cigarette bud tossed out. Singapore is litter free and proud of it. In fact they have such strict rules that crime in general is very low. You steal, you lose a hand. Several years ago an American kid keyed a car and got public flogging, dispute is parents attempt to stop this. The state department said if you are in another country, you obey their rules. That kid probably never vandalized another thing. This is the kind of laws the USA needs, instead of telling someone not to do it again. Releasing them back into the streets to steal, destroy, etc., finally a place with justice. 1195 days ago | Side: Not Bad

Ha! sounds good to me. I don't know the details (I'm assuming it's fake anyway though right?) But it sounds like it is only the specific store where litter is found. So it's not as if "capitalism" as the other side noted, suddenly ceases to exist, the consumer can still buy the product somewhere. If I'm understanding that correct, then it is an awsome idea. It encourages them to be sure their employees clean up periodically, and it encourages them to inform their customers that if they do litter they will have to go out of their way to get that thing next time. Great idea actually. 1196 days ago | Side: Hella law!

Exactly brycer. Candy wrapper, cigarette butt, beer bottle...no way of knowing which store sold it. But if any one of these or other items is found as litter anywhere in the city, then it can not be sold at any store in the city for 2 weeks. The idea is not to punish the store for people littering. The idea is to bring social pressure to bear on litterers by preventing everyone from buying the product. Ever see someone drop a cigarette to the ground? Did you do anything about it? These days in Impecunia, Tx, other folks will pick up the butt and give it back to the litterer with an icy stare and the pointed comment, "Excuse me, I think you dropped something!" You do NOT want to earn the wrath of your fellow smokers. 1196 days ago | Side: Trash it!

This law is a bit too much, but in a way, I agree and completely support it.. It's just something that can force people to actually stop throwing garbage everywhere. It's really important that we take care of our planet for the future generations. This is an awesome example of humble people organizing for a common good. |

This law is crazy. I can understand where the people are coming from, but when you stop allowing people to sale products that's bad. We live in America, our current economy is capitalism, if you don't allow people to sell those products it's defeating the entire economy. As that one guy stated, we shouldn't all have to suffer because of a few people. 1196 days ago | Side: Trash it!

Ridiculous! Why should the company have to suffer a fall in sales revenue and profit because the people who buy the product can't use a bin? It should be the person littering that is punished not the company who produced the good being littered 1196 days ago | Side: Trash it!
